State Bar dues remain unchanged for fourth year, court assessments
slide up and down
The 2007 - 08 State Bar dues and supreme court
assessments statement will be mailed in mid-May. State Bar dues remain
at $224 for active members for the fourth year in a row. State Bar dues
support many programs members rely on, including practice management
assistance, educational and information resources, ethics guidance,
public outreach and access to justice initiatives, legislative advocacy,
and more.
Supreme court-ordered assessments. The supreme court-ordered
fees include the Board of Bar Examiners (BBE), Office of Lawyer
Regulation (OLR), Wisconsin Lawyers'
Fund for Client Protection, and the Public Interest Legal Services Fund
fees.
The fees for full active licenses for lawyers in
practice for three or more years include: $13 to the BBE, unchanged from
last year; $144 to the OLR, up $15 from last year; and $16 to the
Wisconsin Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, down $9 from last
year. The court assesses all active-licensed attorneys $50
for the Public Interest Legal Services Fund, paid to the Wisconsin Trust
Account Foundation, to provide funding for civil legal services for
people who cannot afford an attorney.
Dues and assessment rates may vary based on membership
classification. For more information about specific fees and State Bar

Dues and assessments are due to the State Bar by July 1, 2007.
