Richard H. Fuller, Marquette 1993 cum laude, and
Steven H. Schinker, Thomas Cooley 1992 with

coordinator in the new Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator. He is a
career member of the Senior Foreign Service and served from 1999 to 2002
as U.S. Ambassador to Botswana.
Nathan S. Lee, U.W. 1998 cum laude, has joined Amgen
Inc., Thousand Oaks, Calif., as corporate counsel, focusing on FDA
regulatory and clinical issues. He previously was an associate with the
Washington, D.C., office of Ropes & Gray LLP.
Kevin Maroney, U.W. 1988, has become associate
general counsel with Wausau Benefits Inc., Wausau. He previously was

Angela Nichols Philipp, Marquette 2001, has joined

Wauwatosa, as an associate, focusing on all areas of family law. She

Kirk L. Deheck, Marquette 2003, has joined the
Ziolkowski Patent Solutions Group, LLC, Mequon, as an associate. Deheck,
a mechanical engineer, concentrates his practice in intellectual

Jessica A. Palmer-Denig, U.W. 1999 cum laude, has
become a Minnesota assistant attorney general in the labor/human rights

Benjamin P. Payne, Marquette 2002, has been promoted

Carl J. Pellegrini, U.W. 1992, has been elected a

The Hon.Shirley Abrahamson, Indiana
University-Bloomington 1956, spoke at an ABA Litigation Section
symposium that focused on "The Vanishing Trial: An Examination of Trials
and Related Matters in Federal and State Court," a report by Prof. Marc
Galanter of the U.W. Law School. Abrahamson is chief justice of the
Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Judith A. Langer , Marquette 1985, presented "HIPAA
Privacy: A Real World Perspective" to the 5th Annual Convention of the
National Association of Subrogation Professionals in Reno in November.
She is with Cobalt Corp., Milwaukee.
Michael P. Maxwell, Marquette 2001, presented a
seminar on worker's compensation subrogation at the 5th Annual
Convention of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals in
Reno in November. He also has been appointed to the private panel of
chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He
is managing partner of Maxwell & Baldwin LLP, Milwaukee.
Bill Slate, U.W. 1959, and Mark
Slate , U.W. 1999, presented a program on will and trust
litigation at the 32nd semi-annual Estate Planning Collegium in Las
Vegas in October. The Slates practice together in Slate Law Offices,

John Tessner , Gonzaga 1984, is co-author of
theMinnesota Legal Research Guide 2d (William S. Hein &
Co.). He is head of public services at the Hamline University Law

Peter C. Blain, Georgetown 1978, has been selected
for membership in the American College of Bankruptcy, an honorary and
educational society for attorneys who have demonstrated the highest
levels of professional expertise and leadership and ethical standards
and a continued contribution to the enhancement of the bankruptcy and
insolvency processes. He is a shareholder with the Milwaukee office of
Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C. and chair of the firm's bankruptcy and
creditor's rights department.

Milwaukee and Madison, has received national recognition for its new

has been recognized as a "Patriotic Employer" by the National Committee
