Feb. 15, 2017 – The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) knows lawyers sometimes freak out when they receive a communication from the OLR. That’s why the OLR is issuing this heads up.
On Feb. 20, 2017, the OLR will email notices to law firms that have a Credit Card Trust Account. This will be a courtesy notice regarding the need to change the title of their Credit Card Trust Account to an “E-Banking Trust Account,” to meet the requirements of SCR 20:1.15(f)(3)b.2. The email message will be from an email address ending with @wicourts.gov. It will include a hyperlink to an article on the OLR’s website regarding commercially reasonable security measures for electronic transactions.
If you have any questions or concerns about the email, please contact the Office of Lawyer Regulation’s Trust Account Program at (877) 315-6941, Option 2.
