Effective April 5, 2018, Wisconsin Act 203 modified the procedure for relocating children under Wis. Stat. section 767.481, as recently discussed in Christopher S. Krimmer's article, “Dissecting the New Family Relocation Statute,” in the July 2018 issue of Wisconsin Lawyer magazine.
Now, rather than filing notice, a parent wishing to relocate with a child must file a motion with the court containing detailed information about the relocation plan. Family Law in Wisconsin contains a detailed explanation of the new procedure as well as updated pleadings ready for immediate use.
