Kittelsen honored by the Fellows of the Wisconsin Law Foundation
for lifetime of service
The Fellows of the Wisconsin Law Foundation (WLF) honored Rodney O.
Kittelsen of Monroe with the Truman Q. McNulty Service Award in Appleton
last month.

The award is presented for a lifetime of distinguished service to the
legal profession, the State Bar, the state, and the nation, and for
leadership in educating the public in the rule of law. The late McNulty
was co-founder of the WLF Fellows and the first president of the WLF
Fellows Board of Trustees.
Kittelsen accepted the award from his long-time friend Jack DeWitt,
who was the inaugural McNulty Award recipient last year. "Through his
many years and his long distinguished career, Rod has been an
inspiration to a generation of lawyers for his willingness to serve the
community, the country, and our profession," said DeWitt. "It is an
honor to present him with the Truman Q. McNulty Service Award."
After graduating from the U.W. Law School in 1939, Kittelsen briefly
practiced law in Milwaukee before moving to New York, where he served as
a special agent for the FBI in the civil rights, treason, and domestic
violence areas. He returned in 1946 to Monroe, where he continues to
practice law.
Kittelsen has served as State Bar president and as a member of the
Board of Governors and the Senior Lawyers Division Pro Bono Committee.
He is a member of the Unauthorized Practice of Law Strategy and Guidance
Subcommittee.
Kittelsen is a past president of the WLF, serves on the Board of
Directors and has served on various WLF committees. Kittelsen helped
create the Mock Trial Designated Fund to support the continued success
of Wisconsin's Mock Trial Program.
He has received the WLF Charles L. Goldberg Distinguished Service
Award, the U.W. Law School Distinguished Service Award, and the U.W. Law
School Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award.
The WLF is a nonprofit corporation that funds and develops charitable
and educational programs to promote public understanding of the law. The
WLF is a 501(c)3 organization; all gifts are tax deductible to the
extent provided by law. The Foundation is open to all State Bar
members.
