    State Bar seeks nominations for Leonard L. Loeb Senior Lawyers Division Award, nominations due Feb. 12

    Dec. 16, 2009 – The Senior Lawyers Division (SLD) seeks candidates for the annual Leonard L. Loeb Award. Nominees must be 60 years or older, have improved the legal system, and shown leadership in advancing the quality of justice for all. The award recognizes a lawyer who has made significant contributions to the legal community, has shown respect for the legal system, and has demonstrated a love for the law and what it seeks to accomplish.

    The nominee exhibits high ideals and personal character, through his or her legal expertise is or has been involved in community organizations to make the community a better place, has participated in local bar or State Bar activities, and has had a lengthy practice of law, including many years of service “above and beyond” the job.

    The award is named for Loeb, a former State Bar president who was instrumental in establishing the SLD and who served as its first president. The Senior Lawyers Division focuses on activities and content specifically designed to serve the needs and interests of senior lawyers, and help members stay connected with the State Bar of Wisconsin and with each other. Every member of the State Bar of Wisconsin who is 60 years old or older is eligible for membership in the Senior Lawyers Division.

    The award will be presented at the 2010 State Bar Annual Convention in Madison. Past recipients include Loeb (posthumously), the Hon. Paul Gartzke, Ernest Hanson, Robert B. Peregrine, James R. Cripe, and Jack DeWitt.
