FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Madison, WI – The State Bar of Wisconsin is recognizing its Litigation Section for its generous donation to the 2014 National High School Mock Trial Championship, which will be hosted by the State Bar in Madison next May.
The State Bar and its charitable arm, the Wisconsin Law Foundation, have set a $200,000 fundraising goal to help cover the cost of venues, awards, activities and materials for participants, who in recent years have hailed from 46 states, Guam, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and South Korea.
The Litigation Section brings together 1,782 attorney members who have an interest in civil litigation, insurance law, and tort law. The Litigation Section also supports the training of law students in trial advocacy and the continuation of the adversarial and jury systems. The group is being honored as a Silver Gavel level sponsor ($10,000-$24,999).
“The National and State Mock Trial programs have done more than any other initiative to encourage and develop young peoples’ interest and understanding of our legal system. While many of these participants will never step into a courtroom as lawyers, all will have a better appreciation for the rule of law and role of lawyers in our society,” said Litigation Section Chair Joe Troy.
Attorney Troy encouraged other State Bar sections, law firms and individuals to donate.

“The dedication and commitment of these young advocates is inspiring. It’s important that we honor their hard work and success with a fitting national competition experience,” said Troy. “I encourage all members of the State Bar to join us in supporting this important opportunity to host the 2014 National Mock Trial competition.”
