It is my great pleasure to welcome Daniel P. Tokaji as the new U.W. Law School Dean. I look forward to continuing our strong partnership with the law school as he leads its faculty and students into the future.
Dean Tokaji most recently served as professor of Constitutional Law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and as Associate Dean for Faculty. Prior to arriving at Ohio State, he was a civil rights lawyer in California.
His background in election law, voting rights, racial justice, free speech, and democratic inclusion will certainly serve the university, the profession, and our community.
Thank You to Dean Margaret Raymond
I also want to personally thank Dean Margaret Raymond for her steady leadership at the law school over the last nine years. She will continue to be a great friend to the State Bar of Wisconsin and the broader community.
Dean Raymond is a thought leader who kept her pulse on the profession. For six years, she served on the State Bar’s Ethics Committee. You could also expect to see her at the State Bar conferences speaking about the future of law and legal education.
She was a catalyst for change during very challenging times of an economic downturn. Many of her accomplishments are aligned with State Bar efforts to promote public service, student debt relief, lawyer wellness, diversity and inclusion, and the legal profession.
The State Bar of Wisconsin looks forward to its continued tradition of collaboration with the U.W. Law School and Marquette University Law School under the leadership of Dean Joseph Kearney. Our heartfelt best wishes to Dean Raymond as she continues her innovative work as a member of the U.W. Law School faculty. I look forward to welcoming and working with Dean Tokaji.
