State Bar gears up to help members understand new Rules of
Professional Conduct for Attorneys
On Jan. 5, the Wisconsin Supreme Court formally adopted changes to
Chapter 20, the Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys. The new
rules will be effective July 1, 2007.
To help members understand the impact of these changes, the State Bar
will begin offering CLE programs in February and will provide continuing
coverage in the Wisconsin Lawyer™ magazine.
Ethics seminars. A webcast seminar is scheduled for
Feb. 16 from 12 - 2 p.m. (CST).
Teleseminars are scheduled for March 22 and April 17, 12 - 1:30 p.m.,
(CST).
A live seminar is scheduled for March 27, from 8:15 - 11:15 a.m., in
Wausau. This seminar is offered in conjunction with the State
Bar’s Practice 411™ law office management
assistance program and is cosponsored by the Solo and Small Firm
Practice Committee. Hot breakfast is included. Registration for this
seminar is available online,
or by contacting customer service. Tuition is
$20.
A live seminar, sponsored by the Nonresident Lawyers Division,
Professional Ethics Committee, and the Professionalism Committee, will
be offered at the State Bar Annual Convention in Milwaukee on May 10,
from 1 - 4:35 p.m. Attendance to this seminar is open to all convention
attendees who register for the Thursday programs.
The State Bar will submit all seminars for CLE and EPR credits.
