State Bar WisLAP volunteer attorneys
headline ethics program on balancing work and life, addictions, and
mental health challenges affecting lawyers
The Wisconsin Lawyers Assistance Program (WisLAP)
joins the U.W. Law School's Center on Impaired Driving and the Dane
County Bar in presenting "The Ethics of Addiction, Mental Health, and
Other Troubles Facing Attorneys." The half-day program, for attorneys
and law students, will be presented at the law school from 9 a.m. to 12
p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 6.
“We are excited to have three long-time WisLAP
attorney volunteers as this year’s presenters,” says WisLAP
chair Kathryn L. Norton, Madison. “The speakers, along with all
WisLAP Volunteers are dedicated to helping lawyers, judges, and law
students gain the assistance they need to stay healthy and balanced in
their career, home, and social life.”
Larraine McNamara, Milwaukee, will speak about the
importance of balancing work and life; Marc McCrory, Janesville, will
address alcohol, drugs, and the risk of Office of Lawyer Regulation
involvement; and John Lohmann, Madison, will discuss mental health
challenges for attorneys.
WisLAP provides confidential, meaningful assistance to lawyers,
judges, law students, and their families in coping with
alcoholism or other addictions, mental illness, or other problems
related to or affecting the practice of law.
The program has been submitted to the Board of Bar
Examiners for CLE credit. Tuition is $50. Tuition is waived for
