Students from Sheboygan South High School, recent winners of the
State Bar's Mock Trial Tournament, placed fourth at the National High
School Mock Trial Tournament held in St. Louis, May 6-9. Sheboygan was
one of four teams that were undefeated in the competition, which drew
teams from 41 states and Guam. Because of scoring guidelines, Sheboygan
was officially listed as fourth, behind Georgia, Colorado and Texas.
When asked to describe the Wisconsin team, a judge from Minnesota
told Dee Runaas, law-related education coordinator for the State Bar,
that Sheboygan's student lawyers were the best "team" of attorneys he
had seen in all his years of tournament judging.
