Dean Eisenberg's Legacy Lives Through Pro Bono Fund and New Reading
Room in His Honor

Honoring the importance that Howard B. Eisenberg placed on pro bono
service, The Howard and Phyllis Eisenberg Fund has been established at
Marquette University Law School.
"This fund will provide stipends for students participating in pro
bono legal work and will contribute to 'loan forgiveness' for those
students who pursue a career in public interest law upon graduation,"
said Shirley Wiegand, associate dean of Marquette University Law School.
"The Howard and Phyllis Eisenberg Fund will help ensure the legacy of
Dean Eisenberg who so perfectly followed the command to 'do justice,
and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.'"
Following Eisenberg's death, Robert Habush of Habush, Habush &
Rottier, who recently donated $500,000 to Marquette for a study hall
which was to be named Habush Hall, decided that it was more appropriate
to name it the Howard B. Eisenberg Memorial Hall. "Marquette University
extends its appreciation for the generous gift from Attorney Robert
Habush in Dean Eisenberg's memory," said Wiegand.
"Some time ago Dean Eisenberg convinced me to donate a substantial
sum of money to the law school to renovate a large room that had been
used as a courtroom in years past but was now going to be a student
study and reception area," said Habush. "The hall will be named the
Howard Eisenberg Memorial Hall. Dean Eisenberg was a great man who
contributed much to the law school and the general community. He was in
fact the perfect metaphor for justice and caring for the less
fortunate."
