State Bar announces candidates for 2005 elections
November 30, 2004
Dean R. Dietrich, Wausau, and G. Jeffrey
George, La Crosse, have accepted nominations to run for 2005 State
Bar president-elect. Dietrich, with Ruder, Ware & Michler, and
George, with Moen Sheehan Meyer Ltd, were selected by the State Bar
Nominating Committee, which is chaired by State Bar President-elect D.
Michael Guerin.
Nominees for treasurer are Howard J. Bichler,
Rice Lake, and Mark A. Pennow, Green Bay. Nominees for Judicial
Council are Susan Lynn Collins, Madison, and Kathleen E.
Grant, Wausau.
"I am very excited to be nominated for the office
of State Bar president-elect," says Dietrich. "I have served
as treasurer for four years, and the opportunity to run for
president-elect is a natural culmination of my service to the State Bar
and its members. I look forward to meeting State Bar members around the
state and discussing the many changes that are affecting lawyers and
their practices."
"I am honored to accept the nomination for
president-elect of the State Bar," says George. "Americans
enjoy the most successful civil society in the world. That system was
created by lawyers named Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe. It was
sustained by lawyers named Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt. Hardworking
lawyers throughout Wisconsin sustain the fabric of that society
everyday. As an association of lawyers, we need to reassert our pride in
that heritage. I would like to help us do that."
The President-elect serves a one-year term before
becoming president. The treasurer serves two years, and the Judicial
Council representative serves three years. Members interested in running
for one of these offices can self nominate by submitting to the State
Bar a petition signed by 100 active Bar members by Feb. 1. For more
information or to receive a petition, contact Jan Marks at (800) 444-9404, ext.
