TV series moves to Green Bay-Fox Valley region, Bar seeks lawyers
who epitomize community service
Nominations due Aug. 31
July 7, 2006 - The State Bar's "Wisconsin Lawyers
Make a Difference" TV series is headed to the Green Bay-Fox Valley
region. The Bar seeks nominations of lawyers or groups of lawyers who
demonstrate exemplary commitment to community or pro bono service to
feature in a 30-second TV vignette to air in 14 counties in January
2007. Nominations are due Aug. 31.
Nominees must be State Bar members in good standing and have engaged
in community or pro bono service activities in the Green Bay-Fox Valley
region that have had a significant,
positive impact on an individual, group, or community. TV spots are not
intended to be a commercial for a lawyer's practice, nor is the State
Bar seeking examples of the routine delivery of legal services.
"Television offers an effective means to communicate to the public
that as lawyers we are expert advisers, problem solvers, and are
actively involved in our communities," notes Public Image Committee
Chair Ann Brandau. "The new spot will complete our first full television
rotation statewide. In September of 2007, we will begin a new statewide
rotation in central and western Wisconsin."
The TV spots are part of the State Bar's Branding the Profession
initiative, which was introduced in the spring of 2002 to educate the
public about the value lawyers bring to their communities. The
initiative uses the three key qualities the public values most about
lawyers – expert advice, problem-solving skills, and community
service –
in communications to the public.
The State Bar's Public Image Committee will evaluate nominations
submitted by Aug. 31 and select the lawyers or group of lawyers to
feature in the spots. Nominations must describe the pro bono or
community service work, length of time offered, impact on an individual,
group, or community, and what unmet need the service provided.
