Election Day – Tuesday, November 6, 2018

Oct. 31, 2018 – It’s no secret that we live in contentious political times and that political discord is on the rise. But no matter the opinions you might hold for a particular elected official or party, or which direction you would like to see the ship of state steered in, one thing we should all agree upon is that the practice of democracy is something worth coming together over. It’s something worth celebrating. Encouraging each other to voice our opinions at the ballot box is time well spent.

Democracy works when people exercise their rights.  As President Franklin D. Roosevelt once stated:

“Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.”

Voting is the most basic step we can all take to ensure that our government is and remains “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Whatever your political persuasion, please don’t forget to exercise this most basic duty of citizenship, and encourage your friends and family to do the same.
