She previously was with Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in the firm's Washington, D.C., and Paris, France, offices.

    Christine Harris Taylor, Valparaiso 1988, has accepted new teaching and administrative duties as assistant director at Marquette University's Center for Dispute Resolution Education and continues her private arbitration and mediation practice. She previously was with Harris & Nelson LLC.

    Nicolas E. Toft, Michigan 2003, has joined Blair Sterling Johnson Moody Martinez & Leon Guerrero, Hagatna, Guam, as an associate and focuses on commercial litigation, transactions, and intellectual property. He previously was an assistant attorney general for the territory of Guam.

Bach, U.W. 1974, has been elected vice chair of the Wisconsin Judicial Commission, which enforces judicial conduct standards and resolves complaints about judicial misconduct and disability.     Jack Bode, St. Mary's 1973, has been appointed to the Waukesha County Water Conservation Coalition. He is with the litigation and corporate practice groups in the Waukesha office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C.

    The Hon. Michael N. Nowakowski, U.W. 1974, has been elected chair of the Committee of Chief Judges, whose members oversee administrative matters for the state's circuit court system. He is chief judge of the Fifth Judicial Administrative District and sits on the Dane County Circuit Court.

    The Oneida-Vilas-Forest County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Patrick H. Finlan; vice president - Gary S. Cirilli; secretary - Michael W. Schiek; and treasurer - Todd R. McEldowney, all of Rhinelander.

    Thomas G. Ryan, UCLA 1975, has been appointed chair of the Nevada offices (Las Vegas and Reno) of Lewis & Roca LLP.

    Awards, Degrees, Honors

    Jerry R. DeMaio, U.W. 2001, was a recipient of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) John Marshall Award for Litigation for his work on the prosecution and conviction of Al Qaeda conspirator Ahmed Abu-Ali. He is a trial attorney with the counterterrorism section of the DOJ criminal division, Washington, D.C.

    Foley & Lardner LLP has received several honors. The firm was named to the 2006 BTI Market Movers list for its strategic approach to delivering legal services; received a 2006 CIO 100 Award from CIO magazine for its operational and strategic achievements in information technology; and was named the best corporate law firm in Milwaukee in Corporate Board Member's legal industry study.
