Phillip J. Addis, Hamline 1986, has joined DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. He practices in creditors’ rights, is corporate counsel for small businesses, banks, and credit unions, and advises governmental and quasi-governmental agencies on real estate matters, contracts, and contract enforcement. He is co-founder of Main Street Law Offices, La Crosse, where he continues to base his practice.
Michelle Affatati, U.W. 1997 cum laude, has joined Stafford Rosenbaum LLP, Madison, as an associate focusing on business law, estate planning, and litigation support. She previously was with Michelle Behnke & Associates.
Benjamin R. Imhoff, U.W. 2006, and Tambryn K. VanHeyningen, Washington Univ. 2005, have been named partners at Andrus Intellectual Property Law LLP, Milwaukee, as the firm celebrates its 75th anniversary.
Danielle M. Bergner, Marquette 2005, has been appointed deputy city attorney for the city of Milwaukee, managing the law-related aspects of foreclosure, housing, and neighborhood revitalization initiatives.
Karl A. VanDeHey, U.W. 2000, has joined the Milwaukee office of Borgelt, Powell, Peterson & Frauen S.C. and focuses on worker’s compensation matters. Brian W. Baird, U.W. 2004, and Joshua B. Cronin, Marquette 2007, have become shareholders at the firm. Baird focuses on defense of workers’ compensation, general liability, and railroad litigation matters in the Madison office. Cronin focuses on insurance coverage disputes, bad-faith defense, and subrogation in the Milwaukee office.
Drew Cochrane, U.W. 1999, has joined the New Glarus Brewing Co., New Glarus, as general counsel. He previously was a senior partner at the Madison office of Stafford Rosenbaum LLP.
Foley & Lardner LLP has elected six new partners. Jeffrey Lomprey, U.W. 2005, is with the Madison office and focuses on intellectual property law. In the Milwaukee office, David Clark, Maurer 2005, and David Seno, Marquette 2003, practice business law; Kimberly Dodd, U.W. 2003, practices intellectual property law; and Elizabeth Haas, Michigan 2005, focuses on litigation. Jason Keener, U.W. 2003, practices intellectual property law in the Chicago office.

David Gorwitz, U.W. 2005 cum laude, has been named a shareholder at Neider & Boucher S.C, Madison. He focuses on business transactions and estate planning.
Melissa S. Hockersmith, U.W. 2004, was promoted to shareholder at Ryan Kromholz & Manion S.C., Brookfield. Her practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law with an emphasis on litigation and dispute resolution.

Brett D. Schnepper, Marquette 2013, has joined Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet LLC, Waukesha, in the employee benefits team, advising public- and private-sector clients concerning benefits, retirement, and welfare plan design and potential issues and Internal Revenue Code, COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA compliance.

Wallo, Oklahoma College of Law 1992, has joined the Eau Claire office and practices in the business and litigation sections. Wallo was law clerk to the Hon. Thomas S. Utschig, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Wisconsin, for 18 years.

Brenda R. Mayrack, U.W. 2008, has opened Mayrack Law LLC, 43 Rockford Rd., Wilmington, Del., focusing on unclaimed-property-holder advocacy and advising, general commercial and business counseling, and litigation, as both lead and Delaware counsel. She previously was an associate at Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP, Wilmington.
Ronald W. Tusler, Marquette 2010, has opened Tusler Law LLC, 1033 W. College Ave., Appleton, focusing on personal injury and real estate law. Tusler formerly was a partner at Hoff, Panzer & Tusler LLP.

Jason Allen, U.W. 1998, has been appointed co-chair of the energy industry team at Foley & Lardner LLP. A partner in the Milwaukee office, Allen’s background is in energy, project, and infrastructure finance transactions.

Authors, Speakers
Michael S. Heffernan, U.W. 1977, has authored the revised sixth edition of Appellate Practice and Procedure in Wisconsin (State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE 2014). The Honorable Richard S. Brown, U.W. 1971, chief judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, authored the book’s “Standards of Appellate Review” appendix. Heffernan is retired from Foley & Lardner LLP and lives in Madison.
Brian W. Ohm, U.W. 1986, has authored Wisconsin Land Use and Planning Law, published by the U.W. Law School. He is a professor in the Department of Urban & Regional Planning at U.W.–Madison.
Carlton D. Stansbury, Iowa 1990 with distinction, presented “Advanced Issues on Subchapter S Income for Determining Support” at the 2014 National CLE Conference in Vail, Colo. He is a shareholder with Burbach & Stansbury S.C., Milwaukee, and focuses on family law.

Eric E Hobbs, Cornell 1985, has been honored with an award established in his name by the Milwaukee County Commission for Persons with Disabilities. He is the inaugural recipient of the award, which recognizes his 10 years of leadership and service to the commission. Hobbs is a partner in the Milwaukee office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.
Christie A. Linskens Christie, Marquette 1987 cum laude, has been certified as a Child Welfare Law Specialist by the National Association of Counsel for Children. She is a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee and a Marquette Law School adjunct professor.
