Manage and reclaim your computer's hard drive space
Have you ever received a "low disk space" message while
using your computer and puzzled over what is taking up so
much space on your hard drive? Several programs are available that
can analyze the contents of your hard drive and give you a
visual representation of space usage.

WinDirStat is a free program for Windows computers that displays the
percentage of hard drive space used by files and
breaks them down by folders, directories, and file types. It also
displays a visual representation of your hard drive space with
rectangles representing the different files on your hard drive.
The larger the file, the larger the rectangle, and the color of the
rectangles corresponds to file types.
The various displays make it easy to pick out and examine large files
or groups of files that may be small but take up a lot
of hard drive space.
The hard drive analysis features offered by programs such as
WinDirStat come in handy when you are deciding what files
to leave on your computer and what files can be backed up and deleted.
