    New Hires, Promotions, Partners

    Thomas Arnon Allen, U.W. 1982 cum laude, has been named an officer of RMT Inc., Madison, where he is senior counsel. Allen, a registered patent attorney, is responsible for the legal aspects of RMT's technology development.

    David G. Been, Marquette 1987, has been named assistant corporation counsel for Winnebago County. He previously was with Bachman, Cummings, McKenzie, McIntyre & Wilson S.C., Appleton.

    David J. Farley, Marquette 1984, has become a shareholder in Borgelt Powell Peterson & Frauen S.C., Milwaukee, practicing in insurance defense, product liability, and tort law.

    Paul Kelly, Marquette 1982, and Timothy Strattner, Marquette 1974, also have joined the firm, practicing in medical malpractice defense, product liability, and insurance defense. Both previously were with Schellinger & Doyle S.C., Waukesha.

    Monica Burkert-Brist, U.W. 1987, has been appointed executive assistant in the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Madison. She has been an assistant attorney general with the department since 1994. In 1999 she was made director of the department's contracts, commercial, and property unit, handling the state's property, contract, and commercial litigation practice. She later was promoted to administrator of the division of management services, which handles the DOJ budget, personnel, and information technology.

    Susan Anderson-Clayton, Marquette 1985, and Mark P. Andringa, Marquette 1992, have joined Cramer, Multhauf & Hammes LLP, Waukesha, as associates. Anderson-Clayton practices probate law, marital property, guardianship, and trusts. Andringa practices corporate, real estate, estate planning, and probate.

    Cornelius G. Andringa, U.W. 1958, joins the firm as of counsel, practicing estate planning and probate.

    Mary E. Eberle, Marquette 1999, has joined Boyle Fredrickson Newholm Stein & Gratz S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate focusing in patent, trademark, and copyright law. She previously was a patent attorney in Madison.

    Michael P. Erhard, Cincinnati 1973, has joined Neider & Boucher S.C., Madison, continuing in commercial litigation including trade secret misappropriation, intellectual property, information technology, business tort, and shareholder disputes. He previously was a shareholder at Reinhart, Boerner, Van Duren, Norris & Rieselbach S.C., and a partner with Foley & Lardner.

    Thomas A. Fessler, Pepperdine 1983, has been named general counsel of Buck Consultants Inc., a subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corp., New York. He previously was senior counsel to International Paper Company and vice president and general counsel for Dover Elevators, Memphis, Tenn.

    Michael J. Aprahamian, Yale 1992, Ann I. Mennell, Michigan 1990, Eric C. Nelson, Yale 1992, and Todd A. Rathe, Iowa 1992 high distinction, have been elected to partners with Foley & Lardner, Milwaukee.
    Aprahamian focuses on commercial litigation, product distribution matters, legal ethics, and professional responsibility, and is in the litigation department.
    Mennell advises employers on labor and employment law matters and provides assistance with problem prevention and dispute resolution. She is in the labor and employment group.
    Nelson focuses on product distribution and commercial law issues, and is in the business law department.
    Rathe practices in the intellectual property department's consumer and industrial products group and counsels on protecting, managing, and enforcing intellectual property assets. He previously was with a patent law firm in Minneapolis.

    Daniel A. Kaplan, Marquette 1992 cum laude, and Mark A. Kassel, Valparaiso 1993 summa cum laude, have been elected partners in the firm's Madison office. Kaplan is in the labor and employment group, where he counsels employers in employer-employee relationships, and works with employers on training and union organizing, collective bargaining, grievance processes, and arbitration. Kassel, a member of the pharmaceutical practice group, focuses on biotechnical and chemical patent matters, trademark, copyright, and licensing.

    Thomas R. Hrdlick, Georgetown 1988, Michael A. Kallas, Iowa 1994 high distinction, Jennifer G. Karron, Marquette 1993 summa cum laude, and David G. Leuttgen, Texas 1995, have joined the firm's Milwaukee office as associates.
    Hrdlick focuses on corporate and regulatory insurance law. Kallas, previously with Meissner Tierney Fisher & Nichols S.C., focuses on regulatory insurance law and mergers and acquisitions of insurance companies. Both are in the insurance practice group.
    Karron joined the business law group, assisting corporations with international finance matters such as export credit insurance, forfeiting, and factoring.
    Luettgen joined the intellectual property group, bringing experience in patent prosecution, litigation support, and opinion work.

    William F. Grady IV, Marquette 2000, has joined Meissner Tierney Fisher & Nichols S.C., Milwaukee, practicing in corporate and business organization and governance, business transactions, qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, tax planning, and contract matters. He previously was an associate at Fox, O'Neill & Shannon S.C., Milwaukee.

    Jennifer J. Hanneman, U.W. 1997, has joined Godfrey & Kahn S.C. in the tax and corporate practice groups, working out of both the Milwaukee and Waukesha offices. She previously was a senior tax consultant with Ernst & Young LLP.

    John D. Leary, U.W. 1988, has become a shareholder with Garvey, Anderson, Johnson, Geraci & Mirr S.C., Eau Claire, continuing in corporate, business, and creditor law.

    John Barone, Hamline 1994, and John McBride, Hamline 1977, have joined Lommen Nelson Law Firm, Hudson. Barone focuses on small and closely held businesses, including DOT-regulated enterprises, business formation, general corporate matters, and tax and business succession planning, and will continue to work with substance abuse testing. He previously was with Industrial Health Services Network Inc., Hudson. McBride provides commercial litigation and risk management services including business and contract disputes; products, premises, and professional liability; and insurance coverage. He is a Minnesota State Bar certified civil trial specialist.

    Matthew S. Mayer, Marquette 1990, has joined Mallery & Zimmerman S.C., Wausau, practicing civil litigation, family law, and criminal law. He previously was with Grischke & Bremer LLSC, Wausau.

    Stephen Nick, U.W. 1995, has been promoted to Eau Claire city attorney from assistant city attorney. He previously was with Bye, Goff & Rohde Law Firm, advising western Wisconsin villages, towns, and the city of River Falls.

    Johanna Novak, U.W. 2000, has joined Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith PC, Lansing and Farmington Hills, Mich., as an associate in the business and tax department. She previously was with the Consumer Law Litigation Clinic at the University of Wisconsin.

    Michael G. Goller, Marquette 1993 cum laude, Laura A. Brenner, California-Hastings 1991 magna cum laude, and Gregory A. Fedders, Iowa 1992, have become shareholders in Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris and Rieselbach. Goller joined the tax department and Brenner joined the litigation department in the firm's Milwaukee office; Fedders joined the business organizations department in the Madison office.

    Stephen J. Liccione, Northwestern 1980, joins the firm as a shareholder in the Milwaukee office in the litigation department. He previously served as counsel for Ameritech and as assistant U.S. attorney.

    Bryan E. Tillman, Hamline 2000, has joined the Michael Ablan Law Firm, La Crosse, as an associate focusing on commercial transactions and civil litigation.

    Steven J. Vatndal, Marquette 1984, has been elected a partner in Gislason & Hunter LLP, Mankato, Minn., practicing in business, real estate, and estate planning. He is a Minnesota State Bar certified real property law specialist.

    Frederick W. (Ted) Fischer, U.W. 1963, has joined Weld, Riley, Prenn & Ricci S.C., Eau Claire, practicing in municipal and administrative law. He formerly was Eau Claire city attorney.

    Thomas B. Rusboldt, U.W. 1972, joined the firm as a shareholder, practicing in labor and employment, municipal, administrative and family law, and civil litigation.

    Maria E. Milano, Marquette 1999 cum laude, and David P. Dewick, Washburn 1996 dean's honors, have joined Metzler & Hager S.C., Green Bay, as associates.

    Terry J. Finman-Pince, U.W. 1982, has relocated to the Madison office of Brennan, Steil, Basting & MacDougall S.C., from the firm's Janesville office, continuing to practice exclusively family law for southcentral Wisconsin. She will now focus on building a family law practice in Dane County.
