The Wisconsin Supreme Court sets a public hearing
for April 18 to consider increasing the number of Board of Bar Examiners
members.

In the Matter of the Amendment of Supreme Court Rules: SCR 30.01(1):

Order 00-01
The court, on its own motion, proposes to amend SCR
30.01(1) to increase from 9 to 11 the number of members it appoints
to the Board of Bar Examiners by adding 2 public members. Accordingly,
the rule would be amended further to increase from 5 to 7 the number of
members selected from the Wisconsin judiciary, the faculty of the law
schools of this state, and the public.
IT IS ORDERED that a public hearing on the court's proposal to
increase the number of members of the Board of Bar Examiners to 11 by
adding 2 public members be held in the Supreme Court Hearing Room, 119
Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Madison, Wis., on April 18, 2000, at 1:30
p.m.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the court's conference in the matter be
held promptly following the public hearing.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that notice of the hearing be given by a single
publication of a copy of this order in the official state newspaper and
in an official publication of the State Bar of Wisconsin not more than
60 days nor less than 30 days before the date of the hearing.
