    Rose M. Allen, William Mitchell 1998 magna cum laude, has joined Mudge, Porter, Lundeen & Seguin S.C., Hudson, as an associate practicing in family law and general practice.

    Christopher J. Brown, U.W. 1986, has been appointed director of claims in the Arendal, Norway, office of Assuranceforeningen Gard. He previously ran the Hong Kong office. The company underwrites marine liability risks for ocean-going vessels. Brown recently spoke on international marine pollution liability issues at the annual meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Maritime Law Association in Brisbane, Australia.

    HenningBrian Henning , Marquette 1999, has joined Johnson Trust Company, Racine, as assistant vice president and trust officer. He is responsible for personal trust relationship management for the Racine/Kenosha area. Henning previously was with Firstar Trust Co.

    John A. Cabranes, U.W. 1996, formerly a shareholder in the Law Offices of Cabranes & Gutierrez S.C., Racine, has become a partner in the Racine law firm of Hartig, Bjelajac, Cabranes & Koenen. He will continue practicing in criminal defense and labor law.

    Meredith W. Ditchen, Marquette 1997, opened Cordle & Ditchen LLC in Woodstock, Ga. The firm practices in civil litigation, criminal defense, small business services, and family law.

    Scott M. Fuhr, U.W. 1997, has joined the corporate practice team at Godfrey & Kahn S.C., Green Bay. Fuhr previously was with Silton, Seifert, Carlson & Gamble where he practiced corporate, tax, and estate planning law.

    Erika S. Baurecht, Marquette 1996, and Ajay V. Kuttemperoor, Boston 1996, have joined Hurtado S.C., Brookfield, as associates. Baurecht will practice in real estate, construction contracting, and alternative dispute resolution. She previously was an environmental planner and regulatory advisor in Los Angeles. Kuttemperoor will practice in construction and real estate law. He formerly was with Edelman & Associates, New York.

    Kenneth J. Hanshaw, U.W. 1986, has joined Allstate Insurance Company as assistant counsel in the business law and corporate governance group. He was previously senior attorney at GTE Airfone.

    Lisa Mazzie Vela, U.W. 1999, and Mark K. Wesner, U.W. 1998 cum laude, have joined Lee, Kilkelly, Paulson & Younger S.C., Madison, as associates. Wesner previously was associated with Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP, Milwaukee.

    John L. Haslam, U.W. 1997, has joined the estate planning and probate section of Capwell, Nolden, Kallenbach & Grahovac S.C., Racine. He will continue to practice in estate planning, probate, trust administration, real estate, and fiduciary taxation. He previously was with Miller Law Office, Jefferson.

    John D. Finerty Jr., Marquette 1992, was elected shareholder in Kravit, Gass, Hovel & Leitner S.C., Milwaukee. Finerty, a trial lawyer, will coordinate the firm's labor and employment litigation practice focusing on employers in federal and state court litigation. C. Claibourne Greene, U.W. 1993, also has been elected shareholder in the firm. Green is a trial lawyer, focusing in product liability, catastrophic injury, and corporate litigation. Marilyn C. Carroll, Marquette 1992, also has been elected shareholder in the firm. She concentrates in professional liability and medical device litigation.

    Jeffrey S. Dunn, U.W. 1999 cum laude, and Angela M. Pavlick, U.W. 1999, have joined Liebmann, Olejniczak & Jerry S.C., Green Bay. Dunn practices in corporate law, commerical law, trusts, estates, and real estate transactions. Pavlick concentrates in estate planning and commercial transactions.

    Jonathan A. LaVoy, Marquette 1999 cum laude, has joined the firm of Reddin & Singer, Milwaukee, as an associate practicing in criminal defense.

    Michael P. Matthews, Michigan 1996, has joined Williams & Connolly, Washington, D.C., as an associate. He previously was an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School.

    Elizabeth A. Neary, Marquette 1983, has joined The Schroeder Group S.C., Waukesha, focusing on civil litigation and employment law.

    SchuellerMichael J. Schueller , U.W. 1995 cum laude, has been appointed senior vice president of trust operations for Community Bank & Trust, Sheboygan. Schueller previously worked for Strong Capital Management Inc., Menomonee Falls.

    Jonathan D. Rosenblum, Northwestern 1991, has joined Haus, Resnick and Roman LLP, Madison. He will continue to represent the International Labor Rights Fund on the White House anti-sweatshop task force (the Apparel Industry Partnership), develop programs to monitor labor conditions in factories of multinational corporations, and practice labor and employment law. Rosenblum previously was with Gessler, Hughes and Socol, Chicago, and is the author of Copper Crucible: How the Arizona Miners' Strike of 1983 Recast Labor-Management Relations in America.

    David Satola, U.W. 1986, was promoted to senior counsel in the legal department of the World Bank. He continues to work with legal and regulatory reform and privatizations in telecommunications in the developing world.

    WahlstromNelsen R. Wahlstrom , Maine 1997, has joined Stellpflug, Janssen, Nell & Hammer S.C., De Pere, as an associate with the general litigation group. Wahlstrom previously practiced real estate and commercial law at Eaton, Peabody, Bradford & Veague P.A., in Bangor, Maine.

    Jacob L. Schrinsky, Marquette 1999, has joined the Law Offices of Thomas M. Jacobson S.C., Milwaukee. Schrinsky will concentrate in serious personal injury law.

    Laura E. Callan, Marquette 1986, and Jeanette C. Lytle, U.W. 1994, have been named partners of Solheim, Billing & Grimmer S.C., Madison. Callan practices in commercial lending transactions, real estate, and commercial litigation. Lytle practices in business litigation and employment law.

    Robert W. Swain Jr., Michigan 1962, has closed the offices of Herrling & Swain and joined the firm of Robinson, Peterson, Berk & Cross of Appleton and Green Bay. He will continue his practice in litigation and family law.

    Adam J. Tutaj, Marquette 1999 magna cum laude, has joined Meissner Tierney Fisher & Nichols S.C., Milwaukee, practicing in corporate and tax law.

    Apppointments, Elections


    Eric G. Johnson, Hamline 1982, was appointed to the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board. Johnson has been St. Croix County District Attorney since 1984 and has served two terms as president of the Wisconsin District Attorney's Association.

    Todd K. Martens, Harvard 1988, has been appointed Washington County District Attorney by Gov. Thompson.

    KelleySusan Kelley , Catholic University of America 1979, has been elected chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Creditors' Rights Section. Kelley is a partner with Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, Madison, concentrating on commercial transactions, UCC law, and commercial litigation.

    Joyce Ann Seiser, U.W. 1980 cum laude, has been appointed regional attorney of the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) Milwaukee regional office. The NLRB administers and enforces the National Labor Relations Act. It conducts secret-ballot elections for employees regarding union representation and it investigates and remedies unfair labor practices.

    The State Bar of Wisconsin Family Law Section has elected the following officers: chair - Christopher D. Walther, Milwaukee; chair-elect - Marjorie H. Schuett, Madison; vice chair - Cheryl Gemignani, Waukesha; and secretary - Margaret Hickey, Milwaukee.

    The State Bar of Wisconsin Appellate Practice Section has elected these officers: chair - Donald L. Romundson, Green Bay; chair-elect - Ted. E. Wedemeyer Jr., Milwaukee; secretary - Virginia M. Antoine, Milwaukee; treasurer - Bryan K. Nowicki, Milwaukee; and the following board members: Mary E. Burke, Madison; Howard B. Eisenberg, Milwaukee; Beth E. Hanan, Milwaukee; and Marla J. Stephens, Milwaukee.

    Peter M. Sommerhauser, Northwestern 1968, was elected a trustee of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. He is a shareholder with Godfrey & Kahn S.C., and has been with the firm since 1969.

    The Winnebago County Bar Association has elected these officers: president - Grant E. Birtch, Neenah; president-elect - Daniel J. Bissett, Oshkosh; and secretary/treasurer - Brenda Bann.
