Executive Actions

The following State Bar Executive Committee actions were taken at its Sept. 3 meeting in Madison. Members may request a copy of the minutes from the State Bar by calling (800) 728-7788 (nationwide), (800) 362-8096 (statewide) or (608) 257-3838 (Madison).

RECOMMENDED that the Board approve the Facilities Committee request for $10,000 to complete a study of the existing building or a new building as an alternative to remaining at the current Bar Center. The Finance Committee also recommended approval.

ACCEPTED the volunteer reimbursement policy as amended by the Finance Committee.

APPROVED the revised trust account overdraft petition to make the concept acceptable to bankers. The petition was drafted jointly by the Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility and State Bar representatives.

DISCUSSED possible items for the September Board agenda and determined who will make presentations.

AGREED to follow the old guideline to nominate president-elect candidates from Milwaukee next year. Under the new guideline, approved by the Board in June, president-elect candidates would come from Madison next year; however, current President-elect Steingass is from Madison.
