Kathleen Brost, U.W. 1992, has been appointed secretary to the
AAL Variable Products Series Fund Inc. Jessica Philleo, Marquette
1991, has joined Aid Association for Lutherans as an associate attorney
practicing insurance law.

the firm, the Web site provides many legal, medical, and other links to
reference sources such as Medline, HealthNet, the State Bar of Wisconsin
and legal research sites. It also has links to newspapers, magazines, airlines
and other useful Internet sites.
Shannon A. Allen, U.W. 1995, has joined Friebert, Finerty and
St. John S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate. She formerly was with Godfrey,
Neshek, Worth, Leibsle and Conover S.C., Elkhorn.
Ronald S. Aplin, U.W. 1983, has joined Coyne, Niess, Schultz,
Becker & Bauers S.C. as a shareholder practicing in worker's compensation
and other representation of employers and insurers. He previously practiced
with Peterson, Johnson & Murray S.C.
Angela M. Bohmann, Boston College 1978 summa cum laude, has been
elected to the Mid-States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Key District Employee
Plans-Exempt Organizations (EP-EO) Council. She will serve a three-year
term. The Dallas-based organization meets quarterly with IRS officials to
review recent developments, discuss administrative matters, and communicate
concerns on behalf of the employee benefits community. A shareholder at
Leonard, Street and Deinard, Minneapolis, Bohmann practices primarily in
compensation and employee benefits law.
Bruce P. Bower, Notre Dame 1975, served as institute director
for the 1998 Guardianship Institute of the State Bar of Texas. The program
provided the instruction for attorneys to be certified for appointment as
attorney ad litem or guardian ad litem in guardianship and family law matters
in Texas.
Three attorneys recently joined Brennan, Steil, Basting & MacDougall
S.C.: Scott T. Christian, Marquette 1990, practices in business and
corporate transactions, including business organization, contracts, employment
and employee benefits, intellectual property, and municipal law; Jeffry
R. Schwartz, Marquette 1994, practices in family law; and Dale L.
Thorpe, Marquette 1988, concentrates in business and commercial law,
real estate, municipal law, and estate planning, with an emphasis on commercial
and residential land development.
The Chippewa County Bar Association has elected its officers for the
1998-99 term: president J. Peter Weidenheim; secretary/treasurer
Bryan C. Royce; and social committee chair Lucie A.
Usher.
Patrick G. Colloton, U.W. 1969, has been elected senior vice president
of New York Life Insurance Co. He is in charge of the company's brokerage
department located in Kansas City, Mo. The department provides products
and services to more than 1,200 independent life insurance producers nationwide.
In addition, all of New York Life's large corporate life insurance business
is marketed and serviced through the Kansas City location.
John Comerford, Marquette 1988, has become corporate general counsel
and secretary for Lunar Corp. located in Madison. Comerford formerly was
associate resident counsel with National Presto Industries Inc., Eau Claire.
N. (Norrie) J. Daroga, Marquette 1988, has joined M&I Data
Services, a division of Marshall & Ilsley Corp., as its vice president
and general counsel. He is a former partner of Quarles & Brady in Milwaukee.
Davis & Kuelthau S.C., with offices in Milwaukee, Madison,
Sheboygan, and Green Bay, announces the debut of its Web site: www.daviskuelthau.com.
Drescher & Drescher S.C. has relocated to The Appleton Center,
Third Floor, 100 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, allowing the firm to better
service clients in an expanded, more centrally located office. The general
practice law firm concentrates in estate planning, real estate, elder law,
and business law.
Nine attorneys practicing in Foley & Lardner's Wisconsin offices
have been elected to partnership in the firm. Joan L. Eads and Roberta
F. Howell, practicing in the litigation department, are new partners
in the Madison office. In the Milwaukee office, new partners are Elizabeth
S. Blutstein, in the health care finance group; Jeffrey N. Costakos,
in the intellectual property department; Patrick P. Fee, in the
insurance group; Lisa S. Neubauer,in the litigation department;
Hugh J. O'Halloran, in the real estate group; Russell E. Ryba,
in the business law department; and Edward B. Witte, in the environmental
group.
Daniel J. Gabler, Marquette 1991, has joined Employment Solutions
Inc. as the compliance officer. Employment Solutions Inc., a subsidiary
of Goodwill Industries, is a W-2, Welfare To Work Agency, serving 20 percent
of the state's population receiving public assistance.
Martin J. Greenberg, Marquette 1971, Milwaukee, has been promoted
as adjunct professor of law at Marquette University Law School. In addition,
the law school has created the Martin J. Greenberg Award, an award given
to a third-year law student who has excelled in the study of sports law
and in service to the National Sports Law Institute. Greenberg has taught
on a part-time basis at Marquette for more than 25 years and has authored
or coauthored several books. Greenberg also is a visiting professor at Anglia
University in Chelmsford, England. Greenberg was instrumental in creating
the National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University and served as
its director until April 1997. He concentrates in real estate, drafting
and negotiating contracts, and sports law.
The Kenosha law firm of Guttormsen, Hartley & Guttormsen has
relocated its office to the HarborView Office Center, 600 52nd St., Suite
200. The firm also has relocated its Twin Lakes Office to 349 E. Main St.,
Twin Lakes.
Paul R. Hoefle, Michigan 1981, has joined Bode, Carroll &
McCoy S.C., Waukesha, as a shareholder. The law firm's new name will be
Bode, Carroll, McCoy & Hoefle S.C.
R. Thomas Howell Jr., U.W. 1967, has joined Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather
& Geraldson in Chicago in an of counsel capacity. He formerly served
for 12 years as vice president and general counsel for The Quaker Oats Co.,
Chicago.
Chris R. Kabella, U.W. 1978, has become of counsel to Hammargren
& Meyer P.A., a Minneapolis-based law firm practicing in construction-related
law, corporate law, and commercial litigation. Formerly a partner with the
St. Paul law firm of Moore, Costello & Hart, Kabella is president and
general counsel of the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul.
Aaron E. Kornblum, U.W. 1996, has been named a winner of the1998
Distinguished Service Award by the ABA Standing Committee on Legal Assistance
for Military Personnel (LAMP). Captain Kornblum, an assistant staff judge
advocate stationed at Francis E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyo., was one of
six winners in the armed forces. Kornblum's mission-essential legal assistance
effort included a stand-alone Base Tax Center for troops and their families,
free Law Day events on base and in area schools, an innovative preventive
law program, and a comprehensive office Internet
Web site. The award was presented by LAMP Committee chair and State
Bar of Wisconsin President-elect Leonard L. Loeb at Warren AFB.
Dennis W. Kozich, U.W. 1970, has been appointed chief legal counsel
of the Wisconsin Department of Commerce.
Krukowski & Costello S.C., Milwaukee, has hired two associates:
Stephen G. Katz, U.W. 1973, who will continue to practice all aspects
of labor relations, particularly collective bargaining, arbitration, and
employment discrimination; and David A. McClurg, U.W. 1979, focusing
on employment litigation, including discrimination and wrongful termination
cases.
The Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee Inc. has expanded its Board of Directors
to 13 members with the elections of Wayne E. Babler Jr., Quarles
& Brady; Pamela E. Barker, Godfrey & Kahn; Howard B. Eisenberg,
Dean of Marquette University Law School; David A. Erne, Reinhart,
Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris & Rieselbach; and Kathleen M. Rivera,
Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. Margaret Hanrahan, Marquette
1994, and Danuta E. Kurczewski, U.W. 1994, have joined Legal Aid
as staff attorneys in the Guardian ad Litem Division Office at the Milwaukee
County Children's Court Center. Kathleen Walsh, U.W. 1984, staff
attorney in the Civil Division at Legal Aid's downtown office has earned
inclusion in Who's Who in American Law.
David B. Lund, U.W. 1959, Debra A. Petkovsek, U.W. 1990,
and Gregory J. Fumelle, Thomas M. Colley 1987, have opened Lund,
Petkovsek & Fumelle S.C. located at the former Lund Law Office in
DeForest. Petkovsek and Fumelle formerly were with Eustice, Albert &
Laffey S.C., Sun Prairie.
Jon S. Herreman, Drake 1991 with honors, has become a shareholder
of Mallery & Zimmerman S.C. Herreman, who formerly practiced at O'Neil,
Cannon & Hollman S.C., has been associated with the firm since 1996,
practicing primarily in corporate, commercial real estate, and loan transactions.
Narciso L. Alemàn, U.W. 1983, and Christopher W. Williamson,
U.W. 1997, have joined the firm as associates. All three attorneys will
practice in the firm's Milwaukee office. Alemàn, formerly a Milwaukee
County assistant district attorney, practices in commercial litigation and
creditors' rights law. Williamson practices in loan transactions, real estate
law, and trusts and estate planning.
Jeffrey S. Sokol, U.W. 1990, and David G. Hanson, U.W.
1992, have been named adjunct professors of law at the Marquette University
Law School. Sokol and Hanson are teaching a trademark litigation course
for the 1998 spring semester. Sokol, who recently founded Sokol Law Office,
a firm concentrating in patent, trademark, and copyright law, taught federal
trademark registration during the spring semester of 1997. Hanson, a member
of Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris & Rieselbach S.C., taught copyright
litigation during the spring semester of 1997.
Michael McKenna, Minnesota 1985, has been appointed as the Portage
County corporation counsel. He was the Adams County corporation counsel
from 1992-98. He also serves as a JAG officer in the Wisconsin Army National
Guard with the rank of Major.
Brick N. Murphy, U.W. 1995 cum laude, has joined Liebmann, Conway,
Olejniczak & Jerry S.C., Green Bay, as an associate. Murphy is admitted
to practice in all Wisconsin state and federal courts. He practices in business
organization and commercial transactions. He is a frequent lecturer at private
seminars focusing on business law topics.
Four attorneys have joined Neider & Boucher, Madison. Rana Kang,
Cornell 1993, practices in civil, corporate, and criminal litigation; Cynthia
Richson, IIT Chicago-Kent 1990, focuses on business and employment law;
Ronald Smith, U.W. 1978, has become of counsel with an emphasis in
real estate and general business law; and Erik Ibele, U.W. 1979,
practices in corporate and business law, technology licensing, international
trade, trademark and copyright law.
The law firm of Niebler, Pyzyk, Klaver & Wagner LLP has relocated
to N94 W17900 Appleton Ave., Menomonee Falls.
Barbara H. Patterson, U.W. 1974, recently joined Advanced Healthcare
S.C., Milwaukee, as vice president of human resources. Advanced Healthcare
is a multi-site physician-owned group medical practice in southeastern Wisconsin,
comprised of Milwaukee Medical Clinic, Falls Medical Group, and West Bend
Clinic.
Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris & Rieselbach S.C. has added
a new shareholder and five new associates. Jesse S. Ishikawa, Michigan
1980 cum laude, is a shareholder in the Madison office and a member of the
firm's real estate department. He represents developers, lenders, and businesses
in real estate purchases, sales, commercial leasing transactions, and land
development transactions. He is a member of the American College of Real
Estate Lawyers and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. He received
his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Middlebury College, where
he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. New associates in the Milwaukee office

department; Michael J. Frazier, Chicago-Kent with high honors, is

organizations department. Prior to joining the firm he worked as a human
resources manager for a global consulting firm and for a large manufacturing
company; Gail M. Olsen, Marquette 1990 magna cum laude, is a member
of the employee benefits department. Before joining the firm she was an
executive at a large employee benefits consulting and administration firm.

William B. Rowland, U.W. 1986, has been named a partner in the
Atlanta, Ga., office of the international law firm of Jones, Day, Reavis
& Pogue. Rowland practices in the business practice group focusing on
international transactions and technology transactions. He represents both
publicly and privately held companies.
Larry T. Sarver, Toledo 1976, has joined Schumaker, Romenesko
& Associates S.C. (SR&A) as director of its employee benefits division,
Employee Benefit Advisors. He will concentrate in providing comprehensive
retirement plan consulting services to clients. SR&A, a leading regional
firm of certified public accountants and consultants with offices in Appleton,
Green Bay and Oshkosh, is ranked among the top 100 firms in the United States
by Bowman's Accounting Report.
Kurt M. Schuster, Marquette 1983, has become a shareholder in
the Waukesha law firm of Congdon, Ward & Walden S.C. Schuster has been
with the firm since 1990 practicing primarily in divorce and criminal law.
Joel H. Spitz, Marquette 1990, has been elected a partner with
Ross & Hardies, practicing in the firm's labor and employment group.
Ross & Hardies is a 200-attorney, Chicago-based law firm with offices
in New York, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey.
Ralph J. Tease Jr., Marquette 1981, of Habush, Habush, Davis &
Rottier S.C., Green Bay, recently became board certified in civil trial
law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Leonila B. Vega, U.W. 1996, has joined the Milwaukee office of
Legal Action of Wisconsin. Vega will be practicing Social Security Disability
law.
Due to her recent marriage, Kelly K. Brown, Marquette 1994, is
practicing under her new name, Kelly B. Watzka. Watzka recently completed
her federal clerkship with U.S. Magistrate Judge William E. Callahan Jr.,
and has joined the Milwaukee law firm of Kachelski, Atta & Straub S.C.
Foley & Lardner is honoring Edwin P. "Ted" Wiley,
Chicago 1952, a recently retired partner well-known for his legal practice
and community service, with the creation of the firm's new Founder's Award.
The award recognizes the achievements of Wiley, whose vision and determination
led to the founding of Foley & Lardner's intellectual property department
15 years ago. The award will be given annually to an associate in the department
whose performance best exemplifies the unselfish spirit of client and firm
service that characterized Wiley's long and distinguished career. Wiley
practiced with Foley & Lardner for more than 45 years. He also is known
for his service to the Milwaukee community. The first recipient of the Founder's
Award is Patrick A. Doody, who practices in Foley & Lardner's Washington,
D.C., office.
