John M. Christenson, U.W. 1995, and Mark H.T. Fuhrman, U.W. 1993, have joined Bell, Gierhart & Moore S.C., Madison, as associates. Christenson will practice in bankruptcy and business law. Fuhrman will practice in estate planning, business law, and real property.

Tara Bohling, U.W. 1996, has joined Godfrey & Kahn S.C., Milwaukee, on the estate planning practice team. Previously Bohling was with Garvey, Anderson, Johnson, Gabler & Geraci.

Brett T. Bowlin, U.W. 1999, has joined Sandfort, Zalewski & Klinner LLP, Wausau, as an associate. The firm has a statewide practice emphasizing insurance defense.

Robert J. Brill, Marquette 1992, has joined Wildman Harrold Allen & Dixon, Chicago, in intellectual property practice. Brill previously prosecuted patents with intellectual property law firms and a corporate patent department.

William F. Brown, Harvard 1980, has become the general counsel and director of compliance for SASI, a third-party administration firm in Milwaukee. SASI focuses on recordkeeping and other administrative issues for qualified plans and cafeteria plans. Brown formerly was with Weiss, Berzowski, Brady & Donahue LLP.

Kenneth J. Hansen, Harvard 1987 magna cum laude, has become a partner in Quarles & Brady LLP, Madison. Hansen practices in general corporate, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions, focusing on software and other high technology companies. He previously served as general counsel for a software development company.

Mark Burns, William Mitchell 1999, has joined Wilhelm Law Service S.C. as an associate. Burns formerly worked in the patent department of Unisys Corporation and as an engineer for 3M Company in its research department. Burns' focus is intellectual property law, especially the procurement of foreign and domestic patents and associated rights to inventions.

Steven C. Brist, U.W. 1982, Marci A. Paulsen, Akron 1996, Daniel P. Koval, Depaul 1990, and Robert C. Procter, Boston 1999, have joined the Madison city attorney's office. Paulson also is licensed in the state of Ohio and Koval also is licensed in Illinois. They will concentrate on prosecution of City of Madison ordinance violations.

Molly E. Hall, Washington and Lee 1988, has joined Davis & Kuelthau S.C. as an associate focusing on environmental litigation. Hall previously was an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Wisconsin and a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. She is a contributing author to Germany and Transition: A Unified Nation's Search for Identity and author of "A Haven for Polluters? Comparing German and American Environmental Permitting Procedures."

Tara K. Kleinhans, U.W. 1998, has joined Kelly & Kobelt, Madison, as an associate practicing labor and employment law and developing the firm's family law practice.

Thomas H. Koch, Marquette 1990, has joined Wille, Gregory & Lundeen, Milwaukee, practicing in product liability defense, personal injury, insurance defense and coverage, ERISA litigation, subrogation, and alternative dispute resolution. Koch previously was employed by Kravit, Gass, Hovel & Leitner S.C.

Jennifer D. Konz-Alt, U.W. 1998, has joined Baker & McKenzie, London, England, as an associate practicing international securities law focusing on Germany and Eastern Europe. This follows completion of a scholarship with the German Academic Exchange Service Young Lawyers Program in Cologne, Germany.

Michael J. Lokensgard, U.W. 1993, has joined the corporate practice team at Godfrey & Kahn S.C., Appleton. Lokensgard was previously a senior staff attorney with the Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin, where he practiced corporate, environmental, and real estate law.

Heather L. MacDougall, Marquette 1994, has joined McGuiness, Norris & Williams LLP, Washington, D.C., as an associate practicing labor and employment law. She formerly was with Krukowski & Costello S.C., in Milwaukee and then in Washington, D.C. McGuiness, Norris & Williams manages the Equal Employment Advisory Council.

Catherine M. McGinn, Franklin Pierce 1992, has joined Bell, Gierhart & Moore S.C., Madison, as an associate practicing primarily in insurance defense medical malpractice.

Yolanda Y. McGowan, U.W. 1993, and Thomas J. Donnelly, Marquette 1995, have joined Emile Banks & Associates LLC, Milwaukee, as associates. They will concentrate in insurance defense litigation.

Michael W. Salsieder, Notre Dame 1978, has joined Bucyrus International Inc., South Milwaukee, as vice president and general counsel. Bucyrus International manufactures surface mining equipment. He previously was vice president, general counsel and secretary of Joy Mining Machinery.

Brian Butler, Northwestern 1968, has been elected managing partner of Stafford, Rosenbaum, Rieser & Hansen. Richard Nordeng, U.W. 1974, has been elected to the firm's executive committee as administrative partner. Michael Allen, University of Chicago 1984, has been elected to the executive committee as financial partner. The firm has offices in Madison and Sun Prairie.

David M. Sengstock, Creighton 1999, has joined Poulos, Sengstock & Budny S.C., West Allis and Waukesha, as an associate, focusing his practice in real estate, family law, bankruptcy, and traffic/criminal law.

John P. Starkweather, U.W. 1991 cum laude, has joined Rudnick & Wolfe, Chicago, as a partner focusing on real estate transactions. He was previously with Rosenberg & Liebentritt P.C., Chicago.

Kelly J. Schwab, Hamline 1999, has joined the law firm of Reff Baivier Bermingham Zierdt & Lim S.C., Oshkosh, as an associate attorney in general practice.

Lynn A. Welsh-Steinmeyer, U.W. 1999, has joined Behling Law Office, Cambridge, as an associate. She practices family and juvenile law in Dane and Jefferson counties, focusing on guardian ad litem work.

Douglas B. Wheaton, Marquette 1998, has become legislative assistant to Wisconsin Senator Mary Luzich. He also has received the Master of Arts in political science from Marquette University. His focus was American politics with a minor in international politics.

Mark P. Jungers, University of Texas 1999, and Thomas J. Pienkos, U.W. 1999, have joined the Milwaukee office of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. as associates. Jungers will concentrate in litigation. Pienkos will concentrate in intellectual property law.

David Patrick Eich, Columbia 1992, has been elected to partnership at Kirkland & Ellis, Chicago. Eich, on a leave of absence from the London office where he practices cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and securities, is currently deputy district attorney of Outagamie county.

Outagamie County Circuit Court Judge Harold V. Froehlich, U.W. 1962, was elected treasurer of the American Judges Association, appointed chair of the AJA's budget committee, and appointed to the organization's nine-member executive committee. Judge Froehlich previously served on the American Judges Association board of governors and in its house of delegates.

John R. Kuhnmuench Jr., Marquette 1969, has been appointed vice president and general counsel at McHugh Software International, Waukesha. Kuhnmuench will have responsibility for McHugh's international and domestic legal affairs. He previously was vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary for H.K. Systems (formerly Harnischfeger Engineers).

The Monroe County Bar Association recently elected these officers: president - Jack D. Buswell; president-elect - Kevin M. Connelly; and secretary/treasurer - Todd L. Ziegler, all of Sparta.

Dan Seibel, U.W. 1988, of Godfrey & Kahn S.C., Milwaukee, has been elected president of the Board of Directors of Easter Seals, Milwaukee; and J.D. Thorne, DePaul 1973, of Employment Law Managers, Milwaukee, has been elected treasurer for the organization for 1999-2000.

Chief Bankruptcy Judge James E. Shapiro, Harvard 1954, has been reappointed to another 14-year term when his current term expires on March 31, 2000. Judge Shapiro is the chief bankruptcy judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He initially was sworn in as a bankruptcy judge in 1982.

Jay A. Urban, Marquette 1992, a shareholder with Urban Taylor & Stawski Ltd., has been appointed cochair of the Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee's Marketing Committee. The nonprofit Volunteer Center has served the Milwaukee area since 1972, connecting volunteers with service opportunities and coordinating community programs as a United Way Agency. Urban serves as a board member of the organization.

William Sosnay, Marquette 1972, has been appointed a Milwaukee County circuit court judge by Gov. Thompson. He replaces retiring Judge Michael Barron.

Paul A. Sturgul, U.W. 1973, has been reappointed chair of the ABA Elder Rights Committee. Sturgul is a fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and vice president of the National Elder Law Foundation. He practices in elder law and maintains offices in Hurley and Woodruff. He also is licensed in Michigan.

The Wisconsin Association of County Corporation Counsel recently elected these officers: president - Scott L. Cox, Dunn County Corporation Counsel; vice president - Todd J. Liebman, Sauk County Corporation Counsel; secretary - Joseph P. Guidote, Outagamie County Corporation Counsel; treasurer - Michael J. McKenna, Portage County Corporation Counsel.
