No one was more disappointed than me when the State Bar of Wisconsin canceled the 2020 Annual Meeting & Conference (AMC) due to the pandemic. I, along with a number of colleagues and members, fought hard a few years ago to bring the gathering back. The AMC plays a critical role in bringing the profession together, across practice and geographic areas. It’s an opportunity to connect with colleagues, learn the latest issues and trends affecting the law and the legal community, and, if possible, get in some much-deserved relaxation.
I’m excited that the AMC is back this year (June 9-11), using a new virtual format. If you’re like me, you’re a bit “Zoomed” out. Visit a virtual chat room where you can choose to speak one-on-one or in groups with presenters. You can even arrange to speak to other participants offline.
The AMC is packed with high-quality CLE at a great price. During the conference, you’ll be able to earn 11 CLE credits, 7 of which will qualify as EPR credit. Following the conference, you’ll have access to additional credits through post-event replays, giving you the chance to earn approximately 30 total credits from one event. That’s enough credits for an entire reporting period. And talk about affordable. The cost breaks down to less than $12 per credit.
You will also find a robust legal exposition with helpful exhibitors, in virtual booths, with whom you can meet either privately or in group chats. And, of course, we have planned a number of engaging plenaries that will motivate and inspire you.
If you’ve attended the AMC in the past, you will notice a few new things this year. In collaboration with the Director of Judicial Education,the AMC will offer multiple sessions eligible for judicial education credit. In addition, the Wisconsin Association for Legal Administrators (WALA) will hold its annual educational conference in conjunction with the AMC.
The AMC is the largest annual gathering of the legal community in Wisconsin. You’ll find nationally recognized experts that you won’t see at any other in-state legal gathering. In addition, with additional programming focusing on lawyers’ health and well-being, you can learn ways to implement real change in your personal and professional life.
Now more than ever, as we seek to reconnect with other people, the AMC is our opportunity to continue to build and maintain a sense of community within the legal profession.
