New Hires, Promotions, Partners
Jessica A. Abbott, Marquette 2002, has joined
Schott, Bublitz & Engel s.c., Brookfield, as an associate, focusing
on family and children's law.
James E. Braza, Cornell 1981, has been named
president of Davis & Kuelthau s.c., which has offices in Milwaukee,
Brookfield, Madison, Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Sheboygan. Braza replaces
Mark Vetter, Marquette 1974, who has assumed the newly
created position of chair of the board.
Timothy J. Burnett, Minnesota 2005, has joined
Zalewski, Klinner & Kramer LLP, Wausau, as a litigation associate,
focusing on insurance defense and coverage and municipal law.
Patrick R. Burns, South Dakota 2000, has become vice
president for the Minneapolis region of the American Arbitration
Association and will supervise business development, education, and
neutral panel maintenance. He previously was with Bassford Remele,

Thomas B.R. Christenson II, Ohio Northern 2004 with

Mark F. Trocinski, Iowa 2005, has joined the Madison
office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as an associate, focusing on
real estate in the land and resources group. Geoffrey R.
Morgan, Kentucky 1980, and Gregory J. Lynch,
Iowa 1994, have been named cochairs of the firm's business practice
group. Morgan, who is with the Milwaukee office, focuses on securities,
finance, and general corporate issues. Lynch, who is with the Madison
office, has a broadly-based business practice, including securities,
mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital matters.
Four attorneys have joined the law department of Northwestern Mutual
Life Insurance Co., Milwaukee. Anthony C. Marino, Texas
1997, is an assistant general counsel on the securities investment team.

to the board of the Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Maryland regional

Christopher D. Daniels, U.W.1984, has been appointed
a trustee of the Foundation of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County.

interim Waukesha County Executive by County Board chair James Dwyer. He

third American elected president in the association's 78-year history.

been appointed chair of Gov. Jim Doyle's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Waste

matters.

The Hon. Jim Wynn, Marquette 1979, has been elected
vice chair of the ABA Judicial Division. He will become chair in 2007.
He also is on the Joint Commission to Evaluate the ABA Model Code of
Judicial Conduct and is the Appellate Judges Conference representative
in the ABA House of Delegates. He is on the North Carolina Court of
Appeals.

Pro Bono, Public
Service
Foley & Lardner LLP raised nearly $320,000 to
help people affected by Hurricane Katrina. The firm also gathered more
than 100 boxes of clothing, shoes, and toys to donate to shelters.
Monica Santa Maria Somohano has received the Godfrey & Kahn
Fellowship in Law. The fellowship, provided by Godfrey &
Kahn S.C., provides a full three-year scholarship to a Legal
Education Opportunities Program participant who enrolls in the U.W. Law
School.
Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, with offices in

computers to Operation Cause (Communications Among U.S. Soldiers
