    Regulatory Counsel

Are you an attorney looking for a great place to work? ATC prides itself on having a collaborative, cooperative, open culture and we are looking for a new member of the legal team who will thrive in our culture. As an attorney, you will represent ATC on state regulatory and other litigated matters and will represent the legal function on multi-department construction project teams. You will work closely with other in-house and outside counsel in the preparation of filings and cases before FERC, state utility commissions or other regulatory bodies, advocate ATC’s projects and legal positions, and provide advice and guidance to the business functions of ATC.

In this role, you’ll use your 3-5 years’ experience in court or administrative litigation and law degree (JD) from an accredited law school with admission to (or eligibility for prompt admission to) the Wisconsin Bar.  Experience with public utilities, admission to other states in which ATC operates (Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois), proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Westlaw are a plus.

Responsibilities will be to draft agreements, pleadings, testimony, motions, and briefs, manage discovery, and represent ATC in transactions, court, or in administrative proceedings; keep current with industry legal developments in assigned areas of responsibility; provide preventative legal advice to all levels of ATC with respect to new case law and proposed or new laws, rules or regulations in order to anticipate and avoid legal problems where possible; and work with opposing counsel, agency staff counsel, and counsel for ATC’s customers, maintaining impeccable ethical standards and promoting a positive image of ATC to the public.  You’ll also provide legal advice, as well as general business guidance and identify, quantify, mitigate, and communicate risks associated with the company's transactions, plans, and strategies.

ATC embraces flexibility in our work and our workplace. We trust our employees to get work done where and when it makes sense, depending on the schedule for the day and the needs of the business.

If you have significant experience in drafting legal documents such as testimony, motions and briefs, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, constantly changing multi-task environment, we want you to energize your career at ATC!
