State Bar 2020 Election Candidates

 

The State Bar will elect a president-elect, a secretary, a Judicial Council representative, and Board of Governors representatives in April. The president-elect serves a one-year term before becoming president. The secretary holds the position for two years, while the Judicial Council representative serves a three-year term.

All State Bar elections (including for State Bar divisions) will be held via an electronic ballot in 2020. Ballots are emailed by the second week in April, and the election closes at noon Central Time on April 24, 2020.

Those elected will take office July 1, 2020.

Board of Governors

The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body. Governors serve two-year terms.

Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors in 2020. District 2 (Milwaukee) elects five; District 6 (Waukesha) elects two; District 9 (Dane) elects four; and all other districts elect one.

To be considered for a seat on the Board of Governors, members must submit a petition to the State Bar by March 1, 2020, that is signed by 10 active members in their district. Candidates will be announced in March.
