Platform Statement
I am honored to accept the nomination for secretary of the State Bar of Wisconsin. As stated in its mission, the State Bar consistently endeavors to support its members in a dynamic and diverse society to deliver valued professional services, promoting access to justice and pursing professional satisfaction.
These pursuits, along with the organization’s strategic priorities (increasing access to justice, promoting a high-functioning justice system, ensuring a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and driving competitive advantage for its members and the organization) motivate me to pursue the secretary position so I can contribute to these efforts. If elected, I would support the State Bar’s mission while continuing to move the organization’s strategic priorities forward.
I have been actively involved with the State Bar for more than a decade and this opportunity would allow me to apply my experience in a new role. I started volunteering with the Leadership Development Committee in 2010. I continue to serve on that same committee today and am so proud of its work in providing leadership development opportunities and training for attorneys. Serving on the State Bar Board of Governors since 2019 has furthered my knowledge of the organization and its activities, which would assist with a smooth transition into the secretary role.
Thank you for your consideration. I would be honored to have your vote.
Biography
I am currently the Senior Director of Legal Operations, Licensing and Risk at Brookdale Senior Living Inc., the largest senior living provider in the U.S. Primarily, I am responsible for managing the company’s healthcare facility licensure processes and ongoing compliance but I also work closely with our legal operations team to support a variety of legal and regulatory issues that arise in our communities. I have worked at Brookdale since graduating from Marquette University Law School in 2005.
I am a native Wisconsinite and currently live in Shorewood with my husband. We are avid baseball (Brewers, of course) and tennis fans. I strive to have work-life balance. I try to make time to enjoy an almost daily run – preferably outside along Lake Michigan –and I enjoy spending time with our nieces and nephews as much as possible.
