Biography/Comments
Brett Blomme is an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Madison. As an Assistant City Attorney, Brett prosecutes violations of the City's laws, enforcing ordinances adopted by the Common Council. He also provides legislative counsel, drafting and revising the City's code of ordinances and advising the Common Council and City Boards, Committees, and Commissions on the meaning of legislative enactments.
Brett provides general legal counsel and representation to the City. He advises City officials and managers on compliance with the law, representing the City in court, negotiating on the City's behalf, and otherwise using legal procedures to support and defend the lawful decisions of City officials and agencies. Prior to serving as an Assistant City Attorney, Brett was an Assistant State Public Defender. He offers experience, dedication, and a commitment to serve.
If elected, Brett will focus on identifying ways to support those who chose government employment. He will focus his tenure on helping to address many of the concerns government attorneys have, including – pay progression, retention of experienced staff and expanding workloads. Brett is eager to engage these important issues, and more.
Brett graduated from Marquette University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and received his law degree from the University of Missouri in 2009. He has been a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin since 2010. Brett is a member of OPEN Madison, a professional group of LGBT leaders in the Madison area, the Dane County Bar Association, the Board of Directors for the City of Monona Library, and the State Bar Young Lawyers Division.
