The Wisconsin’s Wills for Heroes program uses volunteer attorneys and support personnel to prepare basic wills and other estate planning documents at no charge for eligible first responders and their spouses or domestic partners.

For Volunteer Attorneys:

All attorney volunteers must attend the introductory training before volunteering at a clinic. This training will address all of the information needed to be a successful volunteer and no prior estate planning experience is required. A training video is now available, which has been approved for CLE credit. To access the training video and other volunteer resources, please subscribe to the Wills for Heroes e-list here

If you are interested in organizing a Wisconsin Wills for Heroes clinic in your area, we have assembled a set of software, forms and instructions that you need to get started. Contact the Pro Bono Program Manager at probono@wisbar.org for information on how to get started.

For First Responders:

If you are a member of a first responder organization and would like to request that a clinic be held for your organization, please contact probono@wisbar.org. Requests are added to a wait list and our volunteers schedule clinics in the order that the request was received. Please note that the waitlist for a clinic can be several months.

  • Eligibility: An individual must be a Wisconsin, Sworn, aid or volunteer first responder to participate. First responders include police officers, firefighters, paradmedicas, emergency medical technicians, and their spouses or domestic partners.
