Volunteers are needed to assist eligible veterans and service members who have legal issues that can best be resolved by a Wisconsin lawyer. The Pro Bono Coordinator screens requests for help and provide referrals to volunteer and reduced cost attorneys or other legal resources when it is appropriate. Family members of eligible individuals may also receive legal assistance through this project.
What kinds of issues do we help with?
The project is focused on civilian legal matters that impact or result from military service. In addition to a substantial number of requests for help with family law issues, other areas of law that may arise include:
- Adoptions
- Tenant-landlord
- Consumer finance
- Guardianship
- Employment
- Immigration (spouses and children)
- Misdemeanor criminal offenses
How can you help?
The easiest way to volunteer is through the State Bar's Pro Bono Portal at probonowi.org (select the Veterans & Military Families category under Who You Can Help).
Join the State Bar's
military pro bono e-list to keep up to date on training events and requests for help through LAMP.
We also encourage State Bar members to volunteer with the
ABA Military Pro Bono Project to assist deployed service members who have legal issues in Wisconsin.
