Feb. 6, 2013 – The State Bar Practice411 Breakfast & Business: Eggs, Ethics, and Answers March 13 program, from 8:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Sheboygan, focuses on ethical considerations and malpractice issues associated with debtor-creditor law and how to avoid malpractice issues when using modern practice management tools.

First Session – Top 10 List of Ethics and Malpractice Issues Affecting Debtor-Creditor Law

With debtor-creditor law increasing in popularity in this economic climate, more lawyers are dealing with clients in desperate situations. Avoid the ethical and malpractice traps often associated with debtor-creditor law by exploring some practical tips and useful guidelines for working in this field of practice. The program will also address solutions for collecting fees from creditor/debtor clients.

This session is presented by J. David Krekeler, a principal shareholder with Krekeler Strother S.C., Madison, which devotes a substantial portion of its practice to debt-relief matters. He is the chairperson-elect for the State Bar Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Creditors’ Rights Section.

Second Session – Avoiding Malpractice Using the New Breed of Practice Management Tools

Avoid many malpractice traps by simply using modern practice management tools including calendaring, time and billing, and more. Learn how these tools can help you avoid becoming an OLR statistic and organize your practice to run more effectively and efficiently, while becoming more mobile in the process. Leverage new cloud-based tools to give you anywhere, anytime access to the data you need to ethically represent your clients.

This session is presented by Nerino Petro, State Bar practice management advisor. Petro has 14 years of solo legal practice experience, and 12 years as CEO of CenCom Legal Technologies, which he founded to help lawyers and their staff deal with the practice management issues facing them.
