Nov. 6, 2024 – To enhance judicial security and privacy, the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Director of State Courts Office recently implemented new protections for current and former judicial officers. Three recent Acts have expanded security and privacy protections for current and former judicial officers, including 2023 Wisconsin Act 236, now codified as (Wis. Stat. § 19.36(16)), which exempts Judicial Security Profiles from Wisconsin Public Records Law (Wis Stats. §§ 19.31-19.39).
In light of this, the CS-295 Judicial Security Profile form has been updated. Judicial officers are encouraged to file this form with the law enforcement agency most likely to respond in an emergency; multiple filings are recommended if there are additional residences. The revised CS-295 form and other resources are now available. Please contact the Director of State Courts Office at (608) 266-6828 or Security.Forms@wicourts.gov to request a copy.
