Feb. 12, 2025 – Young lawyers: Here is your opportunity to gain CLE, boost your practice, and make connections among your peers.
The
State Bar of Wisconsin Young Lawyers Conference (YLC) is Friday, March 2028 in Brookfield. (Here’s more information and how to register).
The conference, sponsored by the State Bar of Wisconsin
Young Lawyers Division (YLD), offers free CLE for all YLD members – lawyers within their first five years of practice or under the age of 36. The YLD is committed to providing leadership training and networking opportunities to members.
The YLC is a once-a-year opportunity for young lawyers to get outside of the office and connect with lawyers across practice areas and across the state.
“This year's conference is focused on offering a variety of CLE sessions that will provide useful insights and practical skills for young lawyers to utilize in their everyday practice,” said Megan Mirka, YLD board member and conference co-chair.
Sessions include:
Digital Evidence: Best Practices for Collection, Preservation, and Presentation
State of Non-Competes
Current Supreme Court Cases
Supervising Other Lawyers and Other Staff as a Young Lawyer
Advice from Judges
“The CLE topics span most practice areas and cover updates on interesting and relevant topics for young lawyers,” Mirka said.
ABA President-elect and past State Bar of Wisconsin President Michelle Behnke will give a keynote presentation.
As a conference organizer, Mirka has seen the benefits of attending the YLC.
The conference isn’t just about CLE, she says. “Not only will young lawyers connect with individuals that they likely would not ordinarily encounter, but they also have an opportunity to get acquainted with individuals within the same practice area. These connections are truly invaluable.”
