Where to start – sign up for free email alerts
Many Wisconsin publications and local newspapers offer free email alerts to their current news, and some offer business news alerts. A great place to start is the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, which offers an online index with links to all the Wisconsin newspapers. Take a look at your local newspaper’s website; chances are good there is a way to sign up to receive email alerts right from their home page.
Below is a summary of what is available from some local papers and statewide business resources. All the e-mails are free, however, in order to receive the full text of some articles you may have to subscribe to the publication.
BizTimes News – Previously called the Small Business Times, Biz Times covers Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin business news. It offers a variety of weekly e-newsletters including manufacturing, real estate, and nonprofit news. Visit the home page and click on the subscribe E-News tab to select which email news you would like to receive.
Business Journal newsletters – The Milwaukee Business Journal offers several newsletters for keeping on top of Milwaukee (and other cities) businesses. Some of them include:
Daily Update: This newsletter, sent at 3 p.m. on weekdays, provides links to editorially selected daily news stories and blogs.
Morning Roundup: This newsletter, sent at 7 a.m. on weekdays, provides links to the important business stories of the day.
Portfolio Today: Delivered first thing in the morning, this newsletter provides editorially selected national news and opinion stories.
Biz Watch: You can build a custom newsletter, delivered on Fridays at 10 a.m., based on the companies you want to follow.
To sign up for any of these newsletters, visit the home page page, click on the “Home” tab, click on “Get the Daily Update, Morning Roundup, and More,” and create your fee account to sign up for newsletters of interest in your cities of interest.
Corporate Report Wisconsin – Corporate Report Wisconsin staff compiles two e-newsletters each month that round up all of the Wisconsin’s business news in one easy-to-read email with links to the full features. Visit the home page and click on the e-newsletter tab to create your account.
Daily Reporter – The Daily Reporter is the Midwest’s largest construction newspaper. Visit the home page and click on the e-newsletter tab to subscribe to the free HardHat Mail newsletter to receive daily construction, real estate, and other business news from across the state.
In Business magazine – In Business magazine and IBMadison.com covers business news in the greater-Madison area. InBusiness offers a weekly IB Update with news and information from the Madison area. Daily updates are posted on the Business Reports page. Visit the home page to and click on subscribe. You can also subscribe to the Business Report using an RSS feed.
Madison.com – Madison.com offers the Wisconsin State Journal and Capital Times daily Business Briefing. There is a selection of different email alerts available, including news, but Business Briefing focuses specifically on business news. Click on the email link on the homepage to subscribe.
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Business Newsletter – More southeastern Wisconsin business news can be found by signing up for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Business Watch Newsletter. The newsletter delivers business headlines to your inbox Monday through Friday during the noon hour or whenever there is breaking news. Visit the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Business page.
