Feb. 18, 2009 – The State Bar’s Bankruptcy, Insolvency, and Creditors’ Rights Section is offering the Fourth Annual BICR Educational/Social Retreat at the American Club in Kohler on the afternoon and evening of Thursday, March 5 and the morning of Friday, March 6. Participants will engage in workshop type breakout sessions. Sitting Wisconsin bankruptcy judges will attend the event, together with assistant U.S. trustees and many of the Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 trustees.
The retreat kicks off with a luncheon featuring Executive Director of ABI and former Capitol Hill Legal Counsel Sam Gerdano, whose topic is Inside Washington Insights. In addition to local judges and trustees, nationally known speakers include the Past President of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees Sam Crocker, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Chief Judge for the Western District of Michigan James Gregg, and U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri Barry Schermer who will provide a national case law update. Wisconsin bankruptcy judges will lead panel discussions on local decisions and issues of importance.
Speakers will discuss the means test, Chapter 13 mortgages, Chapter 7 national and local caselaw updates, Chapter 11 fee issues and negotiating deficiencies in business cases.
In addition to a lunch on Thursday, social events scheduled for Thursday night, include a cocktail party, dinner at the American Club and dancing to the music of the O’Bros.
