Oct. 20, 2010 – Members who are not serving in State Bar leadership roles are needed to fill seats on the newly created Committee on Committees. Members will provide recommendations to the Board of Governors on how to structure Bar work groups to support the strategic directions established by the board.
“The right work group structure for the Bar will strengthen the organization’s leadership and build a positive culture that leads volunteers and staff to do highly productive and motivated work,” says Chair Patricia Struck.
Understanding that there are different types of work groups, such as management committees, standing committees, task forces, and advisory councils, the Committee on Committees will conduct a thoughtful analysis of current Bar committees, their functions, operations, membership, and charge in light of the State Bar’s future strategic goals. This committee will propose an optimal structure and strategies for these work groups.
The Committee on Committees is one of five committees created by State Bar President Jim Boll to study infrastructure concerns and issues facing the State Bar and its members. This committee will have two groups, one group comprises Board of Governors representatives and the other group will comprise attorneys who are not in leadership roles on the board, State Bar committees, or divisions. Each group will work independently using the same review process.
