    Develop your practice management skills at interactive webcasts

    Oct. 6, 2010 – Short on time but want to develop your business skills? Several upcoming 60-minute webcasts focus on key business skills that will help you build and manage your practice. The programs were developed by the Wisconsin Association of Legal Administrators (WALA) in conjunction with State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE™.

    • From Hammers to Hand Grenades: The History of Law Firm Marketing Ethics, Oct. 12, 2 – 3 p.m. (CT) – Take an entertaining and educational look at the best (and worst) examples of law firm marketing. Understand the rules, to ensure your marketing efforts are both effective and ethical.

    • Associates and Profitability – A Few Objective Truths, Nov. 2, 12 – 1 p.m. (CT) – Law firms are now struggling through the compound effects of the economic downturn. This program will assist attorneys to maximize the economic advantages of appropriate associate billing and utilization. Learn how to find a good balance.

    • Managing Accounts Receivable – Why It’s the Lawyer’s Responsibility, Nov. 9, 12 – 1 p.m. (CT) – This webcast will focus on topic highlights, including the use of a systemic approach, the best practices for moving from billed to paid invoices, and tips for keeping on top of your accounts receivables all while staying within the professional rules of conduct.

    • Developing Attorney Management Skills, Nov. 30, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. (CT) – Learn to communicate effectively with support staff, manage their time, develop their skills, and provide insight and ideas on retaining their “seat at the table.” Address the need to provide leadership in the critical areas of finance, business development, and client relationships.

    • Small Firm Strategic Planning for Lawyers, Dec. 7, 12 – 1 p.m. (CT) – Take a detailed look into the steps involved in developing a firm-specific working agenda (the areas to address, talking points, etc.) and strategic plan, and learn the importance of a follow-up plan to assist in measuring the success of the project.

    • Now available via CLE OnDemand Cloud Computing and Metadata – This program will answer your data security questions, introduce you to the various flavors of cloud computing, and discuss what information is contained in metadata and how to remove it before it’s a problem.
