Dec. 21, 2017 – President Donald Trump has nominated Gordon P. Giampietro, an assistant general counsel at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., to fill a judicial vacancy on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
Giampietro served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin for 13 years before joining Northwestern Mutual. He was a civil litigation partner at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, in Milwaukee, before becoming a federal prosecutor.
“We are thrilled that Gordon has been nominated to serve on the federal bench,” said Ray Manista, general counsel for Northwestern Mutual. “Gordon is a highly respected attorney and colleague at Northwestern Mutual, and we believe he is an excellent choice to serve the people of the Eastern District of Wisconsin.”
Giampietro earned a B.A. in philosophy and a J.D. from the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. After graduation, he clerked for Judge Rudolph Randa, of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, for three years.
If confirmed, Giampietro would succeed Judge Randa, his former boss, who took senior status in February 2016 and passed away seven months later.
