Proposed juror confidentiality rule to be heard
Whether or not jurors' personal identifying information should be confidential will be the subject of an upcoming public hearing on a proposed Supreme Court Rule. The proposed rule, SCR 73.04, provides for juror confidentiality by requiring that jurors be identified by number and not by name throughout the jury selection process and that personal juror identifying information shall not be elicited during voir dire.

Whether or not jurors' personal identifying information should be
confidential will be the subject of an upcoming public hearing on a
proposed Supreme Court Rule. The proposed rule, SCR 73.04, provides for
juror confidentiality by requiring that jurors be identified by number
and not by name throughout the jury selection process and that personal
juror identifying information shall not be elicited during voir
dire.
The public hearing will be held Tuesday, November 17, 1998 at 1:30
P.M. in the Supreme Court Room in the State Capitol, Madison, WI. If you
are planning to appear and speak at the hearing, please contact the
office of the Clerk of the Supreme Court at (608) 266-1880 prior to the
hearing.
If you cannot attend the hearing, but would like to submit written
material, you may send your material with nine copies to The Wisconsin
