Kelly vs. Warpinski petition
On Wednesday, November 17, 2004, attorneys for Legal Action of Wisconsin filed a petition (Kelly v. Warpinski) requesting that the Wisconsin Supreme Court take original jurisdiction of an action for declaratory judgment by the Court that sections 21(2), 1, and 22 (1) of Article I of the Wisconsin Constitution provide the right to counsel to impoverished suitors in civil actions in Wisconsin.

On Wednesday, November 17, 2004, attorneys for Legal Action of
Wisconsin filed a petition (Kelly v. Warpinski) requesting that the
Wisconsin Supreme Court take original jurisdiction of an action for
declaratory judgment by the Court that sections 21(2), 1, and 22 (1) of
Article I of the Wisconsin Constitution provide the right to counsel to
impoverished suitors in civil actions in Wisconsin.
The petitioners on whose behalf Legal Action of Wisconsin filed the
action are both impoverished women involved in child custody
disputes.
