Tune to WPR on Law Day to hear public radio service
announcements
April 28, 2003
On May 1, Law Day, 30-second messages focusing on a consumer guide
that helps people make end-of-life health care decisions will be
broadcast on 53 public radio stations statewide. A total of 318 messages
will be broadcast six times during the day reaching about 980,000
listeners between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Last spring the Bar introduced its Branding the Profession initiative
and new tag line, Wisconsin Lawyers: Expert Advisers. Serving
you., to educate the public about the value of lawyers. The
initiative uses the three key qualities the public values most about
lawyers - expert advice, problem solving, and community service - in
communications to the public.
The public service announcements will incorporate the tag line and
promote the consumer guide, A Gift to Your Family: Planning Ahead
for Future Health Needs. The guide educates adults about issues
surrounding advance directives, such as power of attorney for health
care, living wills, and other issues such as organ and tissue
donation.
"The end-of-life guide was selected because it is a valuable consumer
resource," says State Bar President Pat Ballman. "More than 90,000
copies have been distributed since its first printing in 2000."
Print copies are available for $1 for members, plus tax, shipping and
handling. Volume discounts are available. For more information, contact
the State Bar.
