New State Bar Center open for business
Aug. 9, 1999
After a year of construction, the new State Bar Center is occupied
and ready to show off to Wisconsin's legal community. While the phone
numbers and post office box address remain the same, the Bar's new
street address is: 5302 Eastpark Blvd., Madison, WI 53718-2101.
The new 40,000-square-foot building replaces the 19,732-square-foot
facility in downtown Madison that had been the Bar's home for more than
40 years. The new Bar Center offers several meeting rooms for seminars
and member gatherings, a technology center for hands-on computer
training, space for out-of-town members to work while visiting Madison,
and ample parking.
Grand opening set for Sept. 17
The State Bar officially inaugurates its new facility on Sept. 17
with a grand opening celebration for all members. The celebration, which
runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m., will feature a short program, tours of the
facility, and a reception. Invited speakers include Gov. Tommy Thompson,
Sen. Herbert Kohl, Sen. Russ Feingold, and Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief
Justice Shirley Abrahamson.
The celebration also offers donors, who contributed more than $1.2
million towards the cost of the building, a chance to see themselves
honored in the new facility. "This new Bar Center is for all Wisconsin
attorneys, and stands as a tribute to the dedication and generosity of
State Bar members and business partners," says State Bar President
Leonard Loeb.
