The State Bar of Wisconsin's Minority Clerkship Program is seeking
additional employers to participate in the program.
The program places approximately 20 minority law students from
Marquette and U.W. Law Schools into summer clerkships at participating
law firms, corporations and government agencies each year. Last year, 17
different employers participated.
"Many of Wisconsin's employers appreciate the importance and benefit
of workforce diversity, but many of these employers still are grappling
with solutions for addressing the scarcity of minority candidates," said
Cory Nettles, Chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin's Committee to
Encourage the Placement of Minority Lawyers, and a lawyer at Quarles
& Brady in Milwaukee. Nettles adds that most employers return each
year to participate in the program because "they are impressed with the
quality of clerks we place with them."
For employers interested in getting involved in the program, call Pat
Morgan at the State Bar of Wisconsin, at (608) 250-6107, or e-mail her
at pmorgan@wisbar.org.
