Gary Bakke of Bakke Norman S.C., New Richmond, has won the race for State Bar president-elect with 2,883 votes. His opponent, Kathleen Grant of Wausau, received 2,810 votes. Bakke's term begins July 1 when Leonard Loeb, Milwaukee, succeeds Susan Steingass as State Bar president.

Gary Bakke"I am enthused about what needs to be done and what we can do. I have several ideas that I'm anxious to try out," says Bakke. "One of my main goals is to get those who have not previously been active in, or happy with, the Bar involved. The campaign was much more pleasant and educational that I expected, so everything is starting out on a nice note."
