Aug. 2, 2013 – The State Bar of Wisconsin has officially launched Our Courts Wisconsin. This four-part presentation series is designed to educate the public on the inner-workings of the court system. All of the programs are free of charge and suitable for audiences of all ages. Each program has a run-time of approximately one hour, but can be tailored to fit shorter or longer events. Lunch gatherings, annual board meetings, and classes are just a few of the ideal settings for the presentations.
In this video clip, Judge Edward Leineweber and Office of Lawyer Regulation Litigation Counsel Bill Weigel co-present Myths & Realities in Wisconsin’s Courts – one of Our Courts' four programs – to a group of community members at the Richland County Courthouse. Myths & Realities is a dynamic presentation that helps audience members better understand the judicial system through pop culture depictions – typically movie clips – of court proceedings.
The other presentations groups may request are Lincoln’s Legacy; Understanding the Criminal Court Process: Protecting the Rights of Wisconsin Citizens; and Understanding the Importance of Your Court System: Courts Serving Wisconsin Citizens.
Our Courts is funded by a grant from the Wisconsin Law Foundation, the charitable arm of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
