The Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility, an arm of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, assists the court in discharging its exclusive constitutional responsibility to supervise the practice of law in this state and to protect the public from acts of professional misconduct by attorneys licensed to practice in Wisconsin. The board is composed of eight lawyers and four nonlawyer members, and its offices are located at Room 410, 110 E. Main St., Madison, WI 53703, and 342 N. Water St., 3rd Floor, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

Public Reprimand of Dale T. McKenna

Dale T. McKenna, 62, formerly of Jefferson, has been publicly reprimanded by the Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility (BAPR). In July 1997 McKenna pled no contest to one count of fourth degree sexual assault, in violation of section 940.225(3m) of the Wisconsin Statutes, a Class A misdemeanor. McKenna was sentenced to two years probation subject to conditions, including serving 30 days in jail.

BAPR concluded that by committing fourth degree sexual assault, McKenna committed a criminal act that reflected on his honesty, trustworthiness or fitness as a lawyer in other respects, in violation of SCR 20:8.4(b). In determining the appropriate level of discipline, BAPR considered that McKenna had no prior discipline and that his conduct was unrelated to the practice of law.
