New Hires, Promotions, Partners
Christopher W. Brownell, Virginia 1991, has joined Northwestern Mutual, Milwaukee, as assistant general counsel on the insurance products and operations practice team. Brownell previously was with StoneRiver Inc., Brookfield, and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Appleton.
Robert W. Dean, Catholic Univ. 1997, has been named a partner at Hennessy & Roach P.C., Green Bay, and focuses on workers’ compensation defense and general liability matters.
Kristin A. Degeneffe, U.W. 2011, has joined Aplin & Ringsmuth LLC, Deerfield, focusing on workers’ compensation and employment law.
Anisa M. Dunn, Michigan State 2007, has become family court commissioner and director of family court services for Racine County. Dunn was previously the legal director for child support enforcement.
Peter M. Garson, Marquette 1988, has joined DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C., Madison, in the business and trust and estate planning practice groups and focuses on business start-ups, mergers and acquisitions, and reorganizations, and business succession planning.

Terry Ann Morgan, U.W. 1988, has been appointed regional director of the National Labor Relations Board in Detroit. She previously was deputy assistant general counsel in Washington, D.C.

Five attorneys have joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin. New assistant U.S. attorneys in the criminal division are Kevin F. Burke, Southern Illinois 1997, previously an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Illinois; and Munish Sharda, U.W. 2000, previously an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Arizona; and in the civil division, Barbara L. Oswald, U.W. 1993, previously a Wisconsin assistant attorney general. New special assistant U.S. attorneys in civil and criminal matters are Leah Fillback Henzendorf, Hamline 1998, and Peter S. Rank, U.W. 2010.

The New Jersey Senate confirmed Barry D. Liss, Rutgers 1994, to the state’s Catastrophic Illness in Children Relief Fund Commission. He is a director at Gibbons P.C., Newark, N.J., focusing on corporate and regulatory health care law.
Michael Best & Friedrich LLP partner John Flanagan, Marquette 1984, has been named president of the Wisconsin Equal Justice Fund Inc. Flanagan practices commercial litigation.
Michele L. Perreault, U.W. 2003, has been appointed to the District 9 Committee of the Office of Lawyer Regulation. She is a partner at DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C., Madison, and chairs the firm’s family law practice group.

Authors, Speakers
The Hon. Janine Geske, Marquette 1975, was a visiting professor of law in restorative justice at the Institute of Criminology at Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and provided training in Dublin, Ireland, on using restorative justice processes to address the harm from the Catholic Church clergy sex abuse scandal. She is a professor of law and director of the Restorative Justice Initiative at Marquette University Law School.
