Kelsey Anderson, Marquette 2017 cum laude, has joined the health care practice group in the Madison office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C. She previously was with another Wisconsin firm, where she counseled clients on issues involving general health care, business transactions, regulatory compliance, and health care fraud and abuse matters.
Nicole Williams Buttery, U.W. 2014, has joined the Madison office of DeWitt Ross & Stevens as an associate practicing in family law and guardianships. She performs research and drafts motions and letters to adverse parties, orders, and other relevant materials throughout all stages of divorce proceedings. She previously was section coordinator for the State Bar of Wisconsin.
Kelly M. Condon, Marquette 2013, has joined O’Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong & Laing S.C., Milwaukee, with the business law and tax and succession planning groups, assisting clients with estate planning, probate, trust administration, and inheritance litigation. She previously was an advanced planning attorney at Northwestern Mutual.
John Paul Croake, Marquette 2013, has joined Murphy Desmond S.C., Madison, as an associate in the business, estate planning, and real estate practice groups, assisting business clients and entrepreneurs with entity formation, contracts, and business planning and handling commercial and residential real estate matters and estate planning. He previously was a solo practitioner in Madison and a small business owner in New York City.
Linda Emery, Georgetown 1986 cum laude, has joined Quarles & Brady LLP as a partner in the intellectual property practice group in the Milwaukee office. She focuses in information technology, data privacy and security, supply chain, the internet of things, and trademarks, and assists clients in the consumer and industrial products, financial services, insurance, education and health care industries.
New partners at Husch Blackwell include the following Wisconsin lawyers: Frank DiCastri, U.W. 1997, David W. Eckhardt, John Marshall 2009 cum laude, LL.M. 2012 with honors,and Steven W. Laabs, Marquette 2008 cum laude,are with the financial services and capital markets industry group in the Milwaukee office.
DiCastri focuses on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, and commercial litigation. He has represented debtors, financial institutions, creditors’ committees, trustees, secured creditors and unsecured creditors in insolvency proceedings that include reorganization cases, liquidations, workouts, and Chapter 128 receiverships. He was previously a partner at an AmLaw 100 firm. Eckhardt concentrates in employee benefits, executive compensation, and taxation. He is experienced in the implementation and operation of tax-qualified retirement plans, ERISA compliance, and employment taxes. Laabs represents companies and business owners in a variety of corporate, commercial finance and real estate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, private placements and business succession planning.
Jeffrey L. Vercauteren, Notre Dame 2008 cum laude, is with the real estate, development, and construction industries area in the Madison office. He is a leader on historic preservation issues, including landmarks, historic districts, municipal approvals and historic preservation tax credits, and also represents clients in land use and zoning disputes, condemnation proceedings, and appeals of municipal decisions.
Jonathan P. Nagy, Southern Methodist 2000, has been appointed chief deputy of the correctional law litigation section, Office of the Indiana Attorney General, Indianapolis, and represents the state of Indiana, the Indiana Department of Correction, and their officials and employees in state and federal litigation, including constitutional challenges and civil rights lawsuits brought by inmates, petitions for postconviction relief, petitions for writs of habeas corpus, and matters concerning the state’s sex and violent offender registry. Previously, he was the chief deputy of the government litigation section.
Zachary Zellner, U.W. 2016, has become an associate with the Madison office of Hupy and Abraham s.c., concentrating in personal injury law.

Angela Lallemont, Hamline 2009 magna cum laude, has opened Lallemont Law LLC, 174 Main St., Winona, Minn., and focuses in family law, real estate, estate planning, Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and alternative dispute resolution. She formerly was apartner at Price, McCluer, Plachecki & Lallemont.
Emily Sullivan, U.W. 2003, has opened Heritage Law LLC, an estate planning firm in Prairie Village, Kan. She previously was a partner at Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP, Kansas City, Mo.
Appointments, Elections
Christopher M. Scherer, John Marshall 1999, has been appointed to the board of visitors of John Marshall Law School. He is a partner at the metro Milwaukee office of DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. and concentrates on domestic and international patent prosecution, particularly for electrical and electronic circuits and systems, computer software, medical devices, medical patient monitoring and treatment technology, device fabrication, optical devices and systems, and mechanical devices. He also has been appointed to the International Standing Committee on Standards and Patents, International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.
Authors, Speakers
Lawrence G. Albrecht, Valparaiso 1973, presented the Justice Robert D. Rucker Civil Rights Lecture at Valparaiso University School of Law. The lecture, titled “Confronting Governmental Impunity and Immunity ‘From Below’,” will be published as a law review article.
Thomas A. Bailey, Marquette 1967, and Laura Lau, Marquette 1988, authored the recently revised edition of Family Law Casenotes and Quotes (State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE, 6th ed. 2017). Bailey is retired from a family law practice. Lau is a Waukesha County court commissioner.

Makda Fessahaye, Marquette 2014, and Erin Ogden, Chicago-Kent 2003, are recipients of the 10th annual Athena Young Professional Award, presented by the Business Forum in Madison in November. Fessahaye is with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Madison. Ogden is with OgdenGlazer LLC, Madison.
Kristen D. Hardy, Marquette 2014, is a recipient of the Emerging Leader Award from the Black Women Lawyers’ Association National Summit. She is with Rockwell Automation Inc., Milwaukee.
Rick Raemisch, U.W. 1988, received the Tom Clements Innovation and Achievement Award from the Association of State Correctional Administrators in November. He is executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections, Colorado Springs.
